“Interesting and lots of fun!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2014

The John Deere Pavilion is very interesting and lots of fun. Located in historic downtown Moline, it's in a very large, attractive, modern, vintage-style building.

Inside, there are examples of many kinds of John Deere machinery, ranging from lawn tractors to full-size tractors to a combine. The combine is HUGE - yours for "only" $500K+. Visitors are able to sit in most of the equipment, allowing them to get a sense of what it might feel like to operate these powerful machines. It also provides a sense of the complexity of modern agriculture and an appreciation of the hard work involved. There are also some antique tractors, which I particularly liked, and a very interesting display about John Deere's history. Until I visited the John Deere Pavilion, I didn't know that John Deere got his start making plows....

By the way, you can't beat the admission charge: free! Also, the staff are very friendly, helpful and enthusiastic. They're available to answer questions or just chat about John Deere.

When you're finished at the pavilion, be sure to check out the John Deere Store next door. It's a great place to pick-up a John Deere-themed souvenir or just walk around and check things out.

Overall, the John Deere Pavilion is highly recommended. It will appeal not only to John Deere fans of all ages, but to others too. It provides an excellent opportunity to learn about this fascinating historic company, which is a great example of American capitalism and entrepreneurship, and to see amazing machinery up close that most of us only ever get to see from a distance.

“John Deere Playground”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2014

This is something for everyone in your family at the John Deere Pavilion. The simulators are a great challenge to see what it is like to operate equipment.

“Free, Very Kid Friendly Learning Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2014

This was a wonderful place to stop and do some learning and exploring. Our kids, aged 2, 3, and 7, as well as ourselves, all enjoyed the Pavilion. All of the combines, tractors, etc are climable and there are tractor simulators. Information is piled onto the walls and in great displays throughout. A friendly guide greeted us and shared the one reasonable rule: no running. There are no fees for anything (unless you visit the gift shop), and the bathrooms are clean. There is a kids area that is visible from many of the learning displays, and our kids enjoyed learning the information cleverly shown in hands-on activities.

“Cool and Free”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2014

I didn't expect it to be very interesting, but it was free. I was pleasantly surprised. The history was interesting, the machines were interesting, and the information about how the John Deere company is preparing for the future was also cool.

“"Awesome" says my 6 year old son!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2014

The John Deer Pavilion was easily the highlight of a recent trip out to the Quad Cities with my 6 year old son and 4 year old daughter. Both loved being able to climb up into full size combines, tractors, mowers, etc., and sit in the "drivers seat". These aren't partial models or replicas, but the actually equipment with stairs up to them for easy access.
There were also computer simulators, which the kids loved, as well as a section of John Deere toys that little kids would definitely enjoy. They also have a lot of education videos and displays, but my companions attention spans didn't leave much time for that sort of thing. I also noticed several guides, who appeared to be mostly older gentlemen who probably had operated a lot of the equipment on display.
Great place to spend an hour or two getting a hands on learning experience. oh, and it being free was a huge bonus (made up for that at the nice gift shop, though ).
Kids loved it, but it is definitely a great venue for grown-ups as well.
