This was a fantastic place. Looks as thought it was recently renovated. Modern decor. Breakfast area bigger than most. Breakfast included bisquits and gravey as the only hot item, but so many more items included. The room was extremely clean and up-to-date. Beds were plush. Business desk computer with printer...free to use. Also had other office supplies there, including fed ex envelopes. We were in town for a softball tournament. Was packed in all the hotels with state track meet, followed by softball tourney. I had walked into the Baymont next door, and did look at a room there. Friends stayed there and said it was fine. But the Hampton was just a couple of notches up. Warning - you can't get government rate unless you show a letter of proof that you are in town on business.

Oh..and I'm VERY picky!

Recently updated. New beds are wonderful with duvets, down pillows. Nice breakfast with pastry, sausage and biscuits or gravy as well as cinnamon raisin biscuits. Also usual cereal...and the coffee is excellent.

Non-smoking hall stunk of smoke the night we checked in. We called the front desk and they said it was from a smoking room. Odd since they'd just told us at check-in that it was a non-smoking floor. When pushed, they said they'd do something about it. But it stunk still in the morning. If you're a non-smoker and care about staying away from smoke, stick to Marriotts. Hiltons are only going to get worse as all smokers migrate to them. As a Gold member, we were given only a noon late check out even after speaking to the manager. Later we checked and there were plenty of rooms available online for booking for that night so the hotel was not full. There was mold in the shower head.

We like Hamptons--price, comfort, good breakfasts. We look for them whenever we are traveling. We did not have a good experience with Mattoon's, though.
First, avoid the steakhouse that is nearby. We ate dinner there, and my husband noticed his steak tasted a bit off. He wasn't sure, thought it might be an odd flavor in the sauce, so he ate most of it. Big mistake. He started throwing up about two hours later, with problems at the other end starting an hour or so after that. This wouldn't be the Hampton's fault, except the toilet didn't flush. We called down, and they said they would bring a plunger when they found it. After about an hour I went down to the desk--they still couldn't find it and other third floor bathrooms were having the same problem (hopefully not with the same issues my husband was having). He started to go to the lobby every time he needed to do some business (every half hour or so), and I couldn't sleep because the room smelled bad. We asked for another room about 2 am, and the clerk gave us one that had been reserved but not checked in. A hour or so later (after we were both finally asleep) a little girl walks in our room-apparently the clerk forgot that he had given away the room.
Hampton Inns advertise a policy that they will refund if things are not right. We did email them, but they never responded.
The clerks there were nice, if ineffective. Everything else was fine, and hopefully they have everything corrected--but if you have any toilet problems I would immediately check out, call a manager, call corporate headquarters--something!
I have stayed at another Hamptons since, but I'm not so brand loyal anymore.
