“Better hotels on other side of freeway!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2013

This is becoming all too typical of America's Best Value Inn. Place was nice enough looking on the outside but was run down and pretty dirty on the inside. Marquee on the sign out front advertised weekly and monthly rates...usually not a good sign; many day workers present milling about open motel doors into the evening. Room was OK but really basic; it was quiet after workers retired for the evening. We travel with a pet and were given the "pet room" which consisted of laminate floor making the room very noisy and cold feeling. Motel is co-located with a bar and party store. Desk clerk was correct however...could not hear any noise from the bar. The area is pretty run down compared with the "other side of town across the freeway". Did not try breakfast as a glance at the area revealed a less than basic offering. Went back across the freeway to McDonald's. For the money, much nicer accommodations can be obtained for just a few dollars more.

Room Tip: Don't take the pet room!

i travel daily for business, so needless to stay i have stayed at 1 star and 5 star hotels nightly. America's Best Value Inn is worth the price you pay. The decor in the room could use a fresh update, but its not a deal breaker for me. I want a clan hotel room, and that is what they offer. All areas - pool, lobby, rooms, hallways - were clean. The hotel breakfast was fresh and a nice ammentity. They offer cereals, eggs, biscuts & gravy, breads and fruit. The rooms have a mini-fridge and microwave, and have fresh clean sheets & bedding.

Worth the price and will return.

We had reservations at another hotel and best to Americas Best Value Inn in Marion by mistake. Noted how nice the lobby was and the lady at desk was. Left to locate our hotel which was a dump and returned to Best Value Inn. Easy to check in, spotlessly clean room, with nice large pillows on king size nonsmoking room, 101, the mini fridge was nice and cold, had a micro wave oven.....room not stuffy, but did turn on the air conditioner while we went to eat supper....room was warm. Room very quiet, good dark drape for those who worry about outside lighting.

Breakfast starts at 5:00.....yes, even the scrambled eggs were hot as I got there at 5:15 as I was up early for a morning walk.....head to the Goddard stone/marble church in the city cemetery which is open, beautiful building with stained glass windows. Nice place to meditate before walking back to the hotel. The breakfast has ice cold real orange juice, and also cold apple juice, also there are bagels , hot sausage gravy and biscuits, cereals and milk, bananas, toast, and some pastries....not allowed to take food from breakfast area. The friendly owner's daughter promptly restocks the breakfast bar.

We will be in the area in a few months....AND WE WILL DEFINATELY return to this hotel. Clean room, good parking, attractive flowers, clean sidewalks, good towels, good lighting. comfortable bed, comfortable and clean arm chair........just what we wanted, The location is easy to find, close to the interstate, can see hotel sign high in the sky.

We wanted a cheap place to sleep and this was it. You can have inexpensive but clean!!! Everything in the hotel was dirty and shabby. The people working the desk seemed oblivious to the filth. The breakfast was very unsanitarty the way it was served. Couldn't wait to get out of there won't be going back!!!!!!

I stopped here because I was looking for an inexpensive place to sleep after driving 600 miles. It is close to I-57, although there is a lot of road construction to get around at this particular exit. The desk clerk was very helpful and polite. but the room was accessible from an unsecured hallway, and the room itself had a defective bolt and another lock that was broken, leaving one key lock that worked. The room key and in-room tv guide were still identified as "Days Inn". I didn't avail myself of the seedy looking bar attached to the property.
Ok for more than one person, with a means of protecting themselves in case of a break in.
