“Clean, convenient, friendly....good place to stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2013 via mobile

We stayed one night stay passing thru town. Hotel is nice, modern, and clean. Beds were comfy, no noise, and right off the interstate. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend!

This is a very nice new hotel very clean awesome staff but had the worst beds i have ever slept on. Prob. will not go back unless i take a mattress pad for the bed. It had flat screen TV's in the rooms and the bathrooms were a little bigger then normal hotels. Also had a very nice indoor pool.

While driving south on a spring vacation, we stayed overnight at the Holiday Inn in Marion Illinois. This is a very new hotel and was great. Check-in was quick. The room was very large and very clear. We had a room with two double beds, a very nice sitting area with a large sofa that could be opened to sleep two additional people. The room also had a small "kitchen" with a wet bar, microwave, and small frig. The bathroom was spotless. In the morning, a warm breakfast was served as part of the room rate. They also had a machine that would make pancakes on demand. (Fun for kids of all ages). Everything about this hotel was clean, pleasant, and restful. While we did hear kids in the hall running around having fun, this ended at a reasonable time and then everything was very quiet. If we were in this area again, we would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: For a little more, get the suite. This includes two double beds and a large sofa and chair in a sit...

Stayed for three nights. Did not get to use the pool or fitness center but had breakfast on two mornings.

Pros
- Lobby area very clean
- Staff very friendly and accommodating
- Room design very nice and rooms were exceptionally clean
- Room had a nice dry clean smell to it (no musty or allergen odors)
- Bedding and pillows very nice but the mattress was a little hard
- WiFi connection strong and consistent
- Large LG flat screen TV on the wall
- Cable TV was very good and included kids channels Disney Jr and Nick Jr.
- Wall mounted thermostat - room temp stayed consistently cool
- Bathroom night light was very good and didn't light up the entire room
- Bath/Shower combo - shower had good temp control and coverage
- Panera and McCallisters restaurants are a block or two away
- Close to the interstate

Cons
- Mattress was firm. If you like a firm mattress then this may be a pro instead of a con.
- Walls and floors are very thin. I was able to hear conversations through the wall. Footsteps on the floor above or outside the room were very loud and vibrated the floor.
- Breakfast was disappointing for a Holiday Inn Express. The food selection and quality was average.
- AC unit is loud when it turns on. As I said in the Pros, it does a good job of keeping the temp normalized so this was not a big deal.

I would stay at this hotel again but I wouldn't pay extra to stay here. They do allow dogs which concerned me because my son has bad allergies to dogs. However, he did not have any allergy problems in the room.

We stayed here on our way home from vacationing in Florida. We arrived after 10pm without a reservation but were greeted with a friendly smile by the staff member at the front desk and were able to get one of the last rooms available for the night. The young lady working the front desk gave us information about the hotel, including the complimentary breakfast and was extremely helpful answering other questions we had.

The room was a suite with a king-size bedroom (with flat screen TV) set off from the front part of the room that had a TV and sofa sleeper. There was more than enough space provided in this room (suite)! There was a nice selection of food at breakfast, and there was staff on hand to keep items refilled and to clean the serving and dining area. The staff in the breakfast area and at the front desk in the morning were just as friendly as the lady who checked us in the night before!

We would definitely stay here again but will be sure to have a reservation since it is tough to find a room late on a Saturday night during the summer. Thanks to everyone at the Marion HIE!

We were pleasantly surprised that Holiday Inn and Express in Marion built a new hotel. We had stayed at the old hotel a few years back. This has got to be the nicest HI Express that we have been to thus far. HI Express is my hotel of choice at this point. We were not disappointed in the least. As other reviewers indicated, it is spacious and contemporary. The location is very convenient. * See note below. The staff was friendly from the front desk to the cleaning staff. Parking is ample (may need to go around the back). Yeah, a HI Express with an exhaust vent in the bathroom! The one thing that I think HI Express didn't anticipate was that breakfast would be so well-attended. The breakfast area on a Saturday AM felt crowded with too much seating in a small area for a hotel as large. That could be remedied with some thought.

*We previously stayed in Marion at the former Holiday Inn Express on Comfort Drive. It was a nice property. That is where our updated GPS took us too instead of the new location on Blue Heron Drive. So... be warned.

Room Tip: The HI Express is next to the Marion Miners minor league ball park. During the baseball season, th...
