“Well Worth The Trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 22, 2013

We drove an hour to this restaurant located in central Marion, IL, and it was well worth the trip! Our server Ben was very friendly and extremely efficient. We bought the $25.00 dinner for two which includes a garden or Caesar salad, appetizer or dessert ( you can get both for an additional $4.99), and two entrees. And of course you get an unlimited amount of the delicious cheddar bay biscuits. These biscuits were hot and fresh and very cheesy. We got the Caesar salad which was very fresh, crisp and delicious. For our appetizer we tried the Lobster-Crab-and-Seafood-Stuffed Mushrooms which were amazing!!! For our entrees we got the Honey-Garlic Crispy Shrimp served with cilantro rice and broccoli. Our second choice was the Teriyaki Glazed Salmon with Pineapple Salsa served with wild rice pilaf and broccoli. The Honey-Garlic crispy Shrimp was a delight and so full of flavor. Npw, the teriyaki glazed salmon with pineapple salsa was a different story. It was dry and very bland and seemed to lack any kind of seasoning. However when we mixed it with the honey-garlic from the shrimp it really made the flavor pop. For dessert we got the Chocolate Wave Cake. This cake is a chocolate lover's paradise! It is a five layer chocolate cake with a crust completely made of chocolate chips drizzled with chocolate and garnished with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. One of the biggest things that stuck out for me was the timing of the food. In most restaurants everything is served pretty much right on top of each other and oftentimes you get your next course before you are even done with the first. Not at this Red Lobster! The service time spacing is impeccable. The eclectic decor of this 20 year old restaurant is a refreshing change from the more modern Red Lobster's. All of the decor from the wooden panelling to lighting to wall decor are from an actual boat. The dining room is very maze-like and consists of divided sections. The restrooms were easily accessible to my disabled wheelchair-bound travel companion. Another refreshing surprise at this restaurant is that the manager actually goes to every table to make sure guests are satisfied. This is another rarity in restaurants. You can't go wrong with this restaurant, great people, great location, great service, great food and great decor all in one!

“Portion sizes have shrunk dramatically!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 13, 2013

Same old lobster except less of it. The bowl of clam chowder was excellent and the crab linguine was also good. We needed a microscope to see the lobster on the plate,

“Kind of a let down.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

They do not allow you to call ahead-why not??? The wait was far too long for the quality of food. The service was ok, our table wasn't cleaned very well and the food just wasn't very good. Typical of a chain restaurant.
