“Nice layout, needs attention”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2013 via mobile

I have such mixed feelings about this property. The hotel is attractive and appears new. The layout of the hotel and our room are very appealing. We have ample space for our family. The refrigerator and microwave are a nice touch. We have a total of three sinks!
The managers reception is a popular benefit. And the free breakfast would be a good value, if it was warm. The station with the waffles and sausage wasn't working properly and the food was cold. Yuck.
Our room is spacious and tastefully decorated. The bathroom needs attention, though. The counter near the sink is discolored. The shower grout is moldy in several spots. A clump of hair on the bathroom floor doesn't match anyone in our family. Furniture is showing wear.
Our corner room has lots of natural light, but is next to the stairwell. With several sports teams here, it's noisy!
My husband spends 150+ nights/year in hotels for business travel. As a family, we typically spend 20-30 nights/year. I'm shocked this property still charges its rewards members for wifi. Really? Not a great way to build loyalty.
We're here for a sports tournament. The tourney dictates your hotel. I would not choose this property again, especially with plenty of other appealing choices nearby.
I'm the team's contact person for the hotel group sales person. She's been responsive with reservation issues. Other issues have gone unacknowledged. Not the level of service we've had at other properties.
If the GM can get the maintenance and customer service issues resolved and corporately Hilton could drop the wifi fees, this property would be more attractive.

This hotel is outstanding! The rooms are all suites so there is plenty of space and room when you want or need it. The rooms are up to date and well maintained. There are lots of perks as well. The two double bed suites had your bathroom with sink and mirror. The bedroom had another sink with mirror and the sitting area a bar sink. There is a microwave Nd small fridge with coffee maker and counter space. The room can boast a large amount of cloths storage with 2 large dressers in the bedroom and another in the sitting Re where there is a pull out bed which was comfortable. There was also a small walk in closet to store suitcases and hang up items like jackets and other items. The was a large desk with 2 chairs and a comfy sitting chair in both bedroom and sitting room. The elevators are quick. The breakfast is phenomenal. Made to order omelettes, pancakes, hash town potatoes, sausages and bacon. Don't forget fruit, juice, tea and coffee, toast, bagels and the usual pastry. But ere was also cereal and hot oatmeal wi toppings. Just when you think what more can they do they offer a nightly managers special switch free drinks. The pool is .off to the end of the hotel which is nice and quiet. There is a beautiful atrium in the middle of all the rooms. There is a bar and restaurant but can't say we really needed me. Close to shopping and other favourite restaurants. Only one draw back the wifi is per day and per device so that could add up. But there is free business centre wi Internet and a few kiosks in the lobby. The staff are friendly and accommodating, overall I would highly recommend.

Our first time at an Embassy suites and it won't be our last. It is an excellent value for the money. At check in they were very friendly and efficient. Our room was clean and comfortable and the bed and pillows were very comfortable both were not too hard or soft.... perfect. Manager's reception is a nice touch and made the big atrium seem more warm and friendly with everyone coming out of their rooms to visit, laugh and enjoy themselves. Drinks were actually better than an expensive restaurant down the street. Both mornings our omelet's were hot and delicious and the cooks were working very hard to ensure that everyone had a breakfast to their liking. Not like other places where they throw the food out on a counter and not care. In fact, we felt everyone at this hotel cared about making our stay more enjoyable. The shuttle was very handy, especially for out-of-towners who do not like to drive in Chicago traffic. It's not very often that a place exceeds your expectations but this hotel did in every way. We will be looking forward to staying here again!

Its perfect for a little vacation and its a great price! The only problem I had was with the Breakfast area being so unorganized. It was messy and their buffet table was constantly empty. The people (my husband & friends) getting omelets were getting their orders wrong. It was cold in the area so our food got cold fast. I also didn't like that I had to stand in the LONG omelet line just to get bacon (the sausage, potatoes & eggs were in the buffet table).

Room Tip: A corner room is best if you are having a gathering because then you only have one neighbor to worry...

While Embassy Suites may not be the least expensive, the value is there! Where else can you get a room that sleeps 5 without a rollaway, a manager's reception, pool, and hot breakfast for less than just 2 beds at most "cheapie" chains? We stay at Embassy whenever we can for these reasons and the attentive staff is just the icing on the cake.

Room was impressive. It was very well maintained. Staffs are friendly. The breakfast is also good. But perhaps more choices can be considered. But other than that, everything was good. It made my stay in Downers Grove very pleasant. Will definitely come back.
