“Bed Bugs”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 21, 2008

The hotel is nice, the resturant was great. The room was clean and I was happy until i was in my meeting the next day. I noticed that i had bumps starting on my leg. After having them checked out... bed bugs! I had not traveled week prior or anytime after the one night at this hotel.

Good luck, the hotel was nice but because of the bed bugs that I had in my room I would not stay here again. If you do, make sure you research bed bugs so that you can check your room before you go to bed.

I travel a lot and have never checked before but I check any hotel I am staying at now.

At the hotel, everything was modern, nicely kept and offers a highly comfortable stay. Staff were really polite and seemed to be genuinely taking-care type. Bathtub (standard room) could have been made a bit bigger but hey, its just a matter of 3-5 minutes so no serious complaints. Being a Brit, I find the b/fast menu is not really 'friendly' with respect to showing items you feel like eating in the morning. Bearer obliged and customised the plate since I expressed my wish clearly.

Location wise, the hotel is just a stones throw away from major motorways that will take you around Chicago suburbs and airports. York town center is huge with leading retail chain outlets. Plenty of restaurants around to try out when you are bored with the hotel food. Beware that public transport around the area is scarce so taxi is the best bet rather than waiting in a shelter less road for Pace buses that run 1 or 2 in an hour.

Overall I would absolutely recommend the hotel

This would be an ok TWO STAR hotel. But it can't be considered a four star facility.

The doorman/bellhop was busy on the phone as we struggled through the doorway with luggage on arrival, then was busy later looking at a newspaper and not taking care of anything related to guests.

The four fluffy down pillows were replaced with two thin small pillows when I them to replace them due to a severe allergy to down and feather products.

There was only one robe provided for two guests, and it was torn - the sleeve was visibly separated from the shoulder.

When we departed, the same doorman was on duty again, looking at a map, and nevedr even noticed us struggle back throught the door with our luggage.

It's nice that they hire the handicapped I guess.

There is an Embassy Suites very near this location - I will try it next time.

  • Liked — Efficient Check-in. Convenient location
  • Disliked — Sub-par service on numerous details. Bad start on arrival with inattentive doorman/bellhop

New Hotel. Fantastic Rooms. No separate bathtub in the 'Heavenly Bath' which was disappointing. Other than that, the room was perfect. Starbucks coffee in room, flat screen HD tv, large windows. We ordered room service for breakfast, and although expensive, it was worth it, excellent food and presentation. The lobby and public areas are wonderful, very well done and inviting. The front desk staff is terrible, but that's partly related to the parent company Starwood creating hundreds of differing programs to lure the customer to their brand. Front Desk staff is unaware of the options given by Starwood. For example, booking a corner room, or one on a high floor is probably not worth it as the front desk may not put you in one of those rooms, even though that's what you booked. Also, usually we're upgraded to the Starwood Preferred Guest floor, but this time we were not. I serioulsy doubt there was an entire floor of people with Starwood Status higher than mine. I've stayed at their properties over 20 times this year. Not the most, but one would think it's enough to be placed on their preferred guest floor. Again, I think the front desk staff just overlooked it. No big deal, but worth noting. The business center in the lobby is excellent. No charge for computer use or printers. Pool and fitness center are very well done also.

This hotel is so gorgeous! We stayed for a weekend with our family because we heard the mall was great and there were a ton of restaurants. I want to say that the staff is so friendly and kind. Sally and Stephanie were great at suggesting places to dine with a small child and our driver Brian was very nice as he drove us to Claim Jumpers which was a great place to dine and eat. The portion sizes are very large, but my daughter got a kick out of seeing the big desserts in the window. Our room was very clean and everything seems very new still. One of the staff members did say they were only open a year. Highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a great suburb experience with exceptional accomodations.

  • Liked — Great location for anything
  • Disliked — Too many choices of where to go, so little time!

This was our first time staying at a Westin hotel. We stayed here as a 1 night getaway(9/26/08) since we are from the area. It's a new 4* hotel that opened in the fall of 2007. Located right across from Yorktown Mall. It is conveniently located to most everything in the western suburbs.

Our checkin was uneventfull with our priceline reservation. Had a winning bid of $73 w/taxes/fees the total = $89.65. Everything you would expect from a new hotel. Everything was clean and modern. Assigned a standard room (room 927) with a king bed. Bed was comfortable and plush. Room was clean. The window did open about 4-5 inches. AC unit worked fine - not too loud. In room fridge with snacks for sale. Had a nice widescreen digital tv. Bathroom was clean with a standard tub which I thought was a little small. Though we did not use it, they have a nice, large pool, dry sauna and workout room. The bottle water they offer in the room costs $4 each - - unbelievable.

I have only 1 complaint - they use white grout for the bathroom floor. After being opened for 1 yr, it is getting dingy/dirty looking (they should have used a grout sealer or a darker color) at least the bathroom in our room was. 2 restaurants are attached to the hotel, Harry Caray's(steakhouse) and Holy Mackerel(seafood). There are many other restaurants in the area which also includes a food court in the mall. We had sushi for dinner at RA restaurant which is on the other side of the mall from the Westin. I don't have any pictures since all my electronics were left at home, but the pictures at the Westin Lombard website should give you an idea of the hotel.

On a whirlwind trip to Chicago, I stayed briefly at this hotel.

First, it is brand new, which is always a plus. And the styling is very modern and clean. A pleasant set of surroundings.

Second, our business group was in a tremendous hurry. Every aspect of the staff worked with us, not against us. The two restaurants -- Harry Carray and a seafood restaurant -- were pleasant choices. Fast service with good food.

Third, this was an emergency trip, so we were able to get supplies at the Target next door (walking distance) and at the shopping center.

Overall, a great, short stay. An excellent new hotel.
