“Great hotel in the suburbs of Chicago!”

Hilton Lisle / Naperville

Jun 26, 2006

Stayed at this hotel over the weekend of June 24th.

Very professional front desk staff upon check-in. As a HHonors Diamond VIP, was given an upgrade to the club floor.

Rooms: New Hilton Serenity bed collection. Very clean. Most king rooms have a sofa bed which gives you added space to lay out. Great curtains that block out the morning light completely! TV was a bit small and outdated. Could hear some noises from the other room .. ask for a room without a connecting door if this bothers you. Nice work desk with leather chair. High speed internet (wireless) is 10.00/day, however it is free on the club level. Bathroom however is very small and does not have an exhaust fan. Robes are included in the club level rooms. Club level lounge does not have food service on Saturdays, Sundays, or Holidays. If you stay on the weekend, you are given breakfast buffet coupons to use in the restaurant.

Club level lounge: 2 sofas, 2 tables, and some nice chairs. Breakfast on Monday morning was standard Continental fair, however no muffins or rolls .. just cereal, bagels, and English muffins. Coffee and juice were both very good.

Restaurant: Visited the restaurant one morning for their breakfast buffet. Food was ok, but most items were cold. Buffet includes pancakes, waffles, french toast, omlettes, etc. Service was very slow, however there was a large group of wedding guest there over the weekend.

Bar: Located in the lobby. Contains some small tables and a few chairs and sofas. Good service. Free H'Douvers from 5-7 (if you get there early!). There was a piano player there on the weekend I stayed.

Service: Did not order room service. Front desk and bar staff were very friendly and accomodating. Concierge was on duty every time I walked out the front door and was very friendly.

Pool: Nicely sized pool and whirlpool. Nothing big but nothing super small. Great exercise room with many bikes and free weights.

FYI: This hotel caters to family events and weddings on weekends so be sure to make your reservations early and expect a full hotel. Although there was 3 wedding receptions and multiple banquets on the weekend I stayed, the service was top notch and the hotel did a wonderful job keeping guests under control. Ask for a club level room .. it is a private access floor and very quiet.

“Disappointing Service”

I have stayed at this hotel a number of times because it is very close to the Warrenville office of my company. My company has many meetings at this hotel and, I'm sure, is one of their largest customers for business travelers.

I have never written a review of a hotel before, but I just felt I had to comment on this particular incident. I had traveled to Chicago for business and arrived at the hotel at approximately 11:00 PM. I was told by the front desk clerk that the hotel was overbooked because a certain group of guests had decided to extend their stay. I was told that they would put me up at the Best Western which was a few miles away. Apparently, all of the other more upscale hotels in the area were booked solid. The clerk told me that the room would be free of charge.

I was extremely upset, but I didn't argue with the desk clerk, as she was just doing what she was told. However, I was surprised that she was not more sympathetic, since it was late and I clearly looked tired and was not happy to have to stay at a Best Western when I was expecting to stay at a Hilton.

I did complain to the manager by telephone when I got to the Best Western. She did end up giving me a "Be My Guest Certificate", so I think she handled it well. Despite that, since I did have to complain to the manager to get any compensation, I also canceled a reservation that I had already made to stay at this hotel for my next business trip to that area which was to be about 1 month after that last one. The Hilton not only lost the cost of the Be My Guest Certificate and the cost of the room at the Best Western, but they also lost the money they could have made from my next reservation and probably a few more. I very likely will stay at this Hilton again some time in the future, since I travel to that area about once every couple of months, and it is otherwise a good hotel. However, I don't plan to stay there again soon. The hotel really should empower the desk clerks to give these certificates. If they had, I would not have walked away with a bad taste in my mouth. I hope that they will learn that pleasing the person standing in front of you, who is the one who decides where to stay, is much more important than paying for the room when that only benefits the company that the person works for and doesn't make them feel any better about your hotel.

Everything about this hotel, from check-in thru check-out was spectacular. The room I was assigned to was extremely spacious. At least 450 square feet. Loved the glass ice bowls vs. standard plastic at most hotels. Beds were extremely comfortable. In room ottoman & desk were above average as well. Indoor pool and hot tub was wonderful & quite refreshing. Best part of the entire stay was the hotel staff itself. Everyone were professional, polite, and smiling. From the front desk staff, to the housekeeping staff and the bartender & service staff. Breakfast buffet was reasonably priced @ $10.95. The food/drinks at the hotel bar/grill were reasonable as well, all things considered. The company was even better. Personally, I needed this weekend for a mental health break. I could've asked for anything more. Thank you, Hilton for a wonderful stay!!

Our second stay...
Staff was helpful and friendly.
Very pleased with Expedia rate and check in was a breeze.
Rooms are spacious and nicely decorated.Had a lovely view of the pond (expressway did not cause sound problem).
Coffee service with mugs and crystal ice bucket on a rosewood stand in the room rather than in the bath area like many chain hotels.
Allgauers is rather pricey and we dined off the property.Did not opt for room service. All range of restaurants within a mile or two drive.
Pool and hot tub were above average and were enhanced by a lovely veranda with lounge chairs. Workout room was basic but adequate.

“At last a hotel that cares!”

Hilton Lisle / Naperville

I spent two nights at this hotel and enjoyed it tremendously! The rooms are much larger than the typical hotel - mine had two double beds, two easy chairs with a shared ottoman - desk with executive chair - etc. The room felt comfortable - almost like being home. The bathroom was a tad small but functioned well.

One of the best features of this hotel is its staff - every one I encountered was friendly and more than willing to be helpful. In my experience, it's rare that all of the staff of a hotel is that way.

My only complaint at all with this hotel is the fitness room - if you're into cardio, you're in luck. But if you're interested in strength training, forget it. I can't help but wonder why they wouldn't spend a few dollars to acquire a full set of dumbbells rather than the five that they had! They do have a nice pool and jacuzzi along with an enclosed sun bathing area.
