“Good value, good food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2013

Overall, the quality of the food at Chinn's was good, maybe 7.5/10. The Monday Crab Fest made it a good value, by adding a decent filet for $12. Let's face it, this isn't the Capital Grille, but hey, it is less than half the price. The decor is lacking, kitchy and dated. You won't impress anyone under the age of 60.

While I wouldn't take a business associate here for a meal, (it is a bib wearing place) I would certainly take my family here for a decent meal. Take it at face value and you will have solid meal.

“Return visitors and still impressed!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2013 via mobile

It had been awhile since we had been at Chinn's, and we were glad we came back for a family birthday party. It was another great dining experience.

We were sat and had great service. We started with several different types of the bisque and salad. As usual, they were all great. Along with that, the Mai Tai's were a great treat and the fresh rolls were awesome.

We all ordered different entrees so we could sample everything. I think the highlight of the entrees was the grilled Halibut or the blackened Ono. We really enjoyed our experience. The service and quality were top notch!

“Glad We Went Early”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2013

Thought that a nice quiet afternoon arrival at a new reastaurant for us would be a pleasant way to start the weekend and we were pleasantly surprised with an empty restaurant and a wonderful wait staff. We ordered appetizers of Blue point Oysters and a crab salad that I have to say were outstanding and the oysters were the plumpest, freshest,(no kidding) best oysters I have ever had. We proceeded to order a Hawaiian fish not familiar with and was superb. Then the regulars came in to the bar and we HAD to listen to their war stories of how great the place was and then the reservation people came in and then the walk-ins and we were completely surrounded by a throng of hungry raucousy people who just happened to love the food, drinks, and wait staff-GO FIGURE- I am glad we came at opening because I really thjought we were the only ones who were going to show up. If you want quiet talk get there before 5:00, otherwise be prepared to have a wonderful evening with complete strangers trying to grab your bar seat while they wait for a table.

“Hmm Awesome!? NOT!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2013

Nprvl reviewed Chinn's service is slipping. I agree. Few servers for a busy Saturday night. Got our food almost 45 minutes. This resto is the only one on the area that's why people are saying it's the best- No competitor! If you've been in the different parts of the world this is simply nothing. Very basic and pricey for the portions and the taste. Most reviewers are talking about the garlic roll, okay fine it's good but that doesn't describe the food that they cater- SEA FOOD! The only thing I find good is the clam chowder. The pasta with shrimp is plain. The jumbo shrimp with stuffing is not really jumbo at all. If you are willing to spend and you don't really care about what good food is then go ahead visit this place BUT if you wanna spend wisely and make your tummy happy then settle for another restaurant. $$$ Budget at least a $100.00 for two. And they accept reservation, they said to cut the wait but seriously it did not.

“Service is slipping”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013

We've been eating at Chinn's for many, many years... often to celebrate special occasions. Serving fresh fish and seafood it is a bit pricey. Spotting a groupon we jumped at the chance to enjoy an old favorite at a bit of a discount.

Unfortunately the entire experience was a huge disappointment. Service was awful compared to what it had been and food portions and quality just were not the same either. We were a bit shocked at the change and hope that what once was a local institution isn't hitting the skids. We've since been told fine restaurants offering groupons can be a red flag. We might go back if we can find a trusted friend who can verify they have improved to their previous level of service and quality.
