Bottaio has long been our favorite in the area, for all the right reasons. They provide a level of service that unfortunately is rare nowadays. Tom (the owner) makes a point of stopping by the table whenever we are there, and has many times sent over something special just for us.
We really miss Salvatore, who was impeccable as the manager, but the rest of the staff really does a nice job.
We have a friend who drives 60 miles just to get the wood-oven pizza. He claims it is the VERY BEST he has ever had, and is a world traveler.
The food never fails, is usually exceptional, especially the nightly specials. The chef is also willing to customize almost any dish, and usually will exceed expectations.
The only negative comment is that the dining room is noisy during peak hours. If you make a reservation,(which you definately need on Fridays and Saturdays), ask for the porch area as an option. It's a small room, so tables are hard to come by, but it is a little quieter.
We hope to continue to enjoy Bottaio for many, many more wonderful meals.
