had a steak sandwich the day we arrived and it was lovely. Also the garlic bread with cheese was very good.

“Talbot Bar, skelwith Bridge Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2013

reasonably priced main menu, and a very good steak and ale bar. The service can be sparodic, with the bar unstaffed for long periods, maybe the first pub in the lakes to promote a help yourself service? Appalling vegetarian selection - pasta with red sauce, or pasta with green sauce.?! Shocking. And no guarantee of a vegetarian daily special. Better places to eat by far.

“Very enjoyable bar meal”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2013

We visit this area frequently, and I had previously thought the Talbot Bar rather poor for a meal.
However, we returned last weekend and really enjoyed it!
The bar staff were extremely friendly and helpful, the food menu was comprehensive and imaginative (particularly the specials board), and the food itself was very good indeed. The homemade steak and ale pie a real treat.
It's an old-fashioned, unpretentious place - but the service and food has been transformed. Will definitely return.

“Good place for a beer and sandwich”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2013

The Talbot Bar is attached to The Skelwith Bridge Hotel. It has been substantially developed over the past few years and now serves a wide choice of beers and bar snacks and "specials" on a blackboard. There are both inside and outside tables and a reasonable car park.

“Stop off along the Cumbria Way”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 29, 2013

We called in here half way between Coniston and Langdale while walking the Cumbira Way. We were here last year and had a huge plate of pasta with a huge portion of chips, and were looking forward to the same this year. We were disappointed at first to see that they'd stopped doing the vegetarian pasta, but only had halloumi burgers, goat's cheese dishes or sandwiches to offer vegetarians. We both opted for the halloumi burgers with jalapenos, and they were so lovely we've made them twice since we got home, Lovely food, and a perfect half-way stop off on the Cumbria Way.
