We have used Hotwire on numerous occasion and have always been very happy with the results, but I must comment on the Ramada in Joliet, IL, this was by far the worst of the worst. Firstly the staff were extremely rude, on check in, we were given a smoking handicap room. I do realize with Hotwire you do not choice rooms, but hotels are always more than willing to give you a non-smoking room upon request, sometimes you cannot get a king bed, but that’s ok. I asked to change and the girl just plain refused to, said because I booked on the internet she refused to change it. I would have thought they would have saved the handicap room for people whom actually required one, we were not late checking in, it was mid afternoon. When we got to the room, there was a dirty ashtray with cigarette butts, and ashes all over the night stand and the carpet was full of potato chip crumbles, it made me doubt that the room had been cleaned at all. The room did have a small fridge and microwave which was a pleasant surprise, but only 1 chair, and no table, it looked like the table had been removed. Then in the middle of the night, the out door sprinkler system (for watering the grass) started up the pump or motors were on located on the outside wall, and it sounded like some freight train, which keep us awake. We got up early and had breakfast for 600 am good thing we did, because by 700 they were out of food. I did fill in a comment card, but by the staff present I doubt that my comments will go anywhere but the garbage. I will continue to book with hotwire, but would never stay at this hotel again
