“Great Weekend Spot”

Villa Park, IL

Me and 10 of my married couple friends stayed at this resort over the weekend and had a grand time. I contacted the resort directly and they gave us a great group rate. The options that exist at this place is enormous. Pool tables, bowling, spa, swimming, the bar, etc., you wouldn't get bored for sure. They even have a place for the kids to hang out if the parents want to go and do some grown up things. There were several events going on at the same time and there were plenty staff available for help.

“Enjoyed the stay”

Eaglewood Resort & Spa Chicago

Aug 23, 2007

I stayed here with my family and really enjoyed it. We had 2 rooms between 5 people. When we checked in we asked for a roll away bed. The receptionist was really helpful and told us that we would have to pay an extra $10 per night for that but would happily move us to a room which had 2 queen beds instead for no extra charge. I also said it would be good if we could have a view of the golf course rather than the car park and again she was able to do that. Both the rooms were overlooking the frst hole which was great. The golf course staff were really helpful and polite as were the staff in the spa.
The only problem we encountered was that the housekeeping staff were not quite 'on the ball' there were always things we had to ask for (coffee etc) although they always appeared within the hour it was a bit of a nuisance. Also they seemed to have a problem with personal hygiene which meant that our rooms always smelt of stale sweat if we returned within an hour of them being cleaned. Other than that we had a great time. The location is good although it is definitely in the suburbs. They do however run a free shuttle which will take you to the station or the mall.

This place was a last minute thing for my wife and I, but it turned out to be the perfect place. We had a nice wknd getaway and can't wait to go back. Fun place for a family vacation also. Golf course was nice, but short. Spa was great for my wife. Shopping was close by. We thought price was very reasonable.

“Great Grounds for a wedding, but pricey and rushed out..”

The grounds speak for themselves, it is breathtaking for a wedding or even for a stay away from home, but with taxes and the "resort fee", it could be a bit pricey. We had our wedding in the Pavillion and it was beautiful, but we felt a bit rushed out. If you put your fork down for a second, your plate would be removed. We also decided to add a sweet table, but it is placed in the corner of the Pavillion with no light so besides the one announcement made by the DJ, no one knew it was there. The rooms are quite a hike away from everything, but I would still stay here again.

“Wedding couples be prepared for many mistakes”

We booked our wedding a year ago at this resort. We fell in love with the beautiful lobby and ball room. We unfortunately spent the last few months frustrated with the venue.

Reservations: VERY DIFFICULT. They reserve rooms for your wedding in blocks of 10. When the block fills up, rather than opening a new block, they don't let guests know the block is full they just tell the guests calling "There are no more rooms for that wedding available." They even told the father of the groom this story. So then you have to call and beg for them to open up the next set of blocks. Our wedding was in July, this trouble started in March.

Wedding Coordinator: Forgetful, unhelfpul and hasty. She consistently deleted emails and 'forgot' to reply to our emails, rarely returned phone calls unless they had to do with Money being deposited.

Ceremony: Although I told the venue we had 235 guests for the ceremony and had made 250 programs, they set up 220 chairs. So 15 guests had to stand in the back, which made it really difficult to walk down the aisle our guests were having to stand in back of. Beware: They even stated "we always set up extra chairs."

Reception: They brought out the wrong food. Ran out of food and told some of our guests they had to eat meat even though they had ordered fish because that is all they had left. They told the children at the wedding they ran out of cake and were saving it for the adults. Surprisingly the next morning when we asked for our top tier, they couldn't find it, however they brought out the whole bottom tier of our cake, equivalent to 75 pieces of cake. They put our tables in the wrong order. My grandmother at 93 was the last one to get served. My father who paid for the dinner was the second to last table to get served and placed at the table furthest from the head table, even though we had specifically filled out their table diagram as they had asked, they chose not to follow it and put the tables wherever they wanted. When the head table attendants were annouced they came in and stood, b/c the place cards were in a pile in the center of the table. They had had us fill out a diagram for that as well, and then just never placed them. The fire alarms went off to the end the wedding, and the wait staff decided to throw out all the food at the sweet table, rather than box it up.

I know this venue is beautiful and it is hard not to be tempted, and I expected things to go wrong. However, their mistakes were large, they were unapologetic and the wedding planner was smug when we approached her to explain our concerns. Instead of dealing with the problems or possibly apologizing, she blamed the staff and went home.
