“Not quite as good”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2011

This property is located close to O'Hare but not close enough to make the airplane noise significant. Unfortunately we were kept up by noise from rowdy teenagers, which the hotel didn't seem to have the security in place to keep in check. The breakfast in the morning was mediocre, no protein and it was absolutely mobbed. With one of the two elevators being out of service (the sign indicated it had been that way for two weeks) getting to and from our 6th floor room was inconvenient. On the plus side the pool was nice, (no hot tub though) and there was plenty of free parking.

Overall, I got really good feed back on this hotel from my guests. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The free breakfast was also decent. My only qualms would be that it books up extremely fast for weekends due to business and weddings, so warn your guest ahead of time. Also, they do not automatically ask you to book your room (even though it is free) if you are bride and groom so be sure to do that right away when you book the block. Also, we had made baskets for all of our guests staying in the hotel, but only some received them. My sister had made my husband and I a special bride and groom gift basket, which we never received until after our check out and my sister asked where it was and we didn't know we were supposed to have received it! However, the rooms are great and the price is great.

Room Tip: Book weekend rooms far in advance due to weddings

Having stayed at the Hyatt Place last year (July 7, 2010) we were expecting a nice return.
Booked through Priceline at what we thought was a good $49 rate .. we could not believe how the hotel had degraded. Certainly not a 3 star hotel as sold through Priceline .. breakfast was pitiful .. nasty tasting biscuits and gravy .. a few mini doughnuts right out of the fridge and bagels.
Of course you could order breakfast for a fee .. we chose to go next door to IHOP.
Disappointed that they could not even provide $39 microwaves in the rooms although they still do have mini fridges. Tried the coffee pot only to discover that it had not been cleaned out ...old filter still in place. The room itself was clean and like before appreciated the nice TV although very very limited on channels that could be viewed clearly. To top it off .. we had to leave a day early due to a medical emergency at home .. talked with desk clerk on the Monday morning (7/4/11) we were leaving and he advised that all we had to do was notify Priceline and we would be credited a room stay should we decide to return at a later date. After appealing through Priceline, we were told no such agreement was offered by the hotel and hotel manager denied that any such arrangement was offered.
Looks like manangement has taken a turn for the worse for this property .. I would highly suggest that this hotel be rated no higher than a 2 star.

This hotel was not up to Hyatt standards at all. We did not receive a crib for our 15 month old when requested and we were told that it was a "request not a guarantee." The manager never apologized, didn't seem to really care and was flippant when approached. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, the management staff was deplorable.

We stayed here for a wedding we were attending. The room itself was great, very spacious. Had a seperate sitting area with a mini-fridge, bar type area with a desk to sit at as well. The bed wasn't the most comfortable but I like a softer bed, not a deal breaker. We were right outside the elevator and heard anyone and everyone who was getting on and off, this was annoying to say the least. We got woken up numerous times from this so I'd recommend to request a room on the outer corners AWAY from the elevator. As far as the shuttle to and from the wedding, the driver was very friendly and even took us back to the hotel when someone forgot something in their room. The area is close to Schaumburg, less then 10 minutes but far if your looking to go into Chicago. I'd highly recommend this hotel based on the rooms, cleaniness of both the hotel and rooms and friendly staff.

Typical Hyatt Place hotel which offers very spacious and luxurious rooms for very decent price. The rooms offer very nice bathrooms, sofas and LCD TV. Sleep quality and comfort of this hotel were top-notch. The hotel itself might not be located very close to Chicago but it's easy to reach it from Chicago O'Hare International Airport - it's approx. 20 miles and maybe 20-25 mins drive. Hotel is located in near proximity of I-90 which of course might be disturbing but I had a great sleep and it makes the location even more accessible. I would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone staying in Chicago area!
