I struggled with what to give this place as a rating.
It was cheap, which was nice. And for only staying one night, it served its purpose. However, a few things brought it down.
I had reserved a King Suite as it seemed worth the cheap upgrade (only a few bucks). When I got there, I quickly checked in and went to my room. It was later at night, so I was looking to cool down, take a shower and relax before heading off to bed.
When I got into the room, I was greeted by an extremely warm room and some black stains all over the carpet (for the record, they seemed like they had been there for a while, nothing new or anything). It just didn't have that feel of a perfectly clean room that I like. I don't mind economic lodging -- in fact, I love it. But I do want to feel clean.
The bathroom was small, but workable. Some of the walls seemed to be peeling a little, however.
I put the system on cool and ran out to find some water and a quick snack and when I came back, it had cooled a little, but the cooling system didn't seem to be working well. It was already midnight and I didn't feel like dealing with it, so I just went to bed.
By the morning, the room had cooled a little more, but not as it should have. I mentioned it as I checked out and I think the person might have made note, but she didn't seem too concerned about it. I would have liked a little bit more of a reaction when someone is mentioning a negative about their motel.
The bedding seemed clean and such, which is good. The internet worked well and I didn't really check the TV as I only had it on for a few moments to give me some background noise as I checked mail and such.
In the end, it's a budget hotel. I paid a little less than 60 per night (AAA rate), so it wasn't bad. I'd stay here again if I needed to, but would look at the other other cheap places nearby (the La Quinta looked very nice and affordable as well). It wasn't a bad stay, but there was just something about it that made it so I can't give it more than an average rating.
