Everyone is raving about this place and I just don't get it. The food is good but really folks don't you know what really amazing food is? Because this isn't it. And the service was only mediocre as well.
We made a reservation for a Friday night about a week ago. When we called for the reservation we were told that it was a very busy night and an earlier than we wanted reservation would be necessary. We had asked for 6:30 but had to settle for 6. The place was practically empty when we arrived. We were asked to sit at a extremely undesirable table. We asked to sit elsewhere and were accommodated. (I noticed that they tried to sit two additional parties there after us but they also refused. They finally moved the table entirely.)
The drunken mushrooms had been recommended so we ordered those but they arrived piled with blue cheese. Which would have been fine if a. we liked blue cheese at all or b. blue cheese was listed as an ingredient in the menu description, which it isn't. For the main course my husband ordered the Churrascos! Grilled Inner Skirt Steak, Chicken Breast and Brazilian Sausage served with Rice, Black Beans, Yuca, Plantains and Chimichurri Sauce . I think that he enjoyed it. I had the Salmon A la Brazileira,Grilled Wild Salmon Filet, marinated in Brazilian Mojo, topped with Caramelized Vidalia Onions and Garlic Jalapeño Butter served with Coconut Rice and Citrus Cole Slaw. It was tasty but not extraordinary.
We were not expecting to be charged for the mushrooms as we sent them back, due to the misinformation on the menu. They were still on the bill. When we pointed it out they willingly removed the item, but it was sloppy service for it to be on there at all.
When we departed the restaurant it was less than two thirds full which makes me wonder why we couldn't have been seated the half hour later that we had requested.
One final note. This is a BYOB place so don't forget your bottle!
