We are Hyatt gold passport members and have stayed at a variety of Hyatt hotels. The Hyatt Regency Curacao is, without a doubt, the best experience we've had so far. The resort is brand new and gorgeous. It blends so well with the landscape and shoulders the Carribean Sea. They have a beautiful open-air lobby, and our our check-in was easy and pleasant. Our room was gorgeous and overlooked the hotel's private beach. My spa experience was fantastic; the spa is very soothing, and my therapist was great. There's no steam or sauna, but they've built in time for you to relax both before and after the service; each treatment room has it's own private veranda. So take my advice and get there early enough to enjoy it; you'll regret it if you don't. My husband golfed, and he said the course was both beautiful and challenging. We didn't put our 6 year-old in camp hyatt this time, but the recreation staff enjoyed keeping him busy, and with 2 pools and a beach, you can't go wrong! The food was wonderful, and we were happy to see they had a lot of kid-friendly options. We loved the gelato, and the chocolate bread pudding from the in-room dining menu is heavenly. We also played tennis, and the clay courts are well-worth the nominal fee. We did venture outside the hotel with the help of concierge and the rental car desk (very convenient!!); the snorkeling on the island is fantastic.
One other really cool thing about this resort is how environmentally-friendly they are. All the stone on the property came from the local quarry, they have convenient recycling containers, the lights in the rooms are room key-activated, and the pools are salt-filtered; no chlorine!!! These features scored very high with us as well.
I really cannot say enough positive things about this resort and its pleasant and accommodating staff. It was our first time to the island, we didn't want to leave, and we cannot wait to go back!

This property is amazing. My wife and I just returned from a six night stay at the Hyatt Curacao and were very happy. The service and staff here are comparable to that of many high end hotels such as Ritz Carlton an St. Regis. They are extremely friendly and are willing to go out of the way to make sure that you have everything you need.

The property is remote and cabs are expensive to the tune of $35.00 for a one way trip into town. My one and only suggestion for improvement would be that they provide a shuttle into Willemstad for guests.

We thought Shor was the better of the two full service restaurants and the food was very good. The pool bar (Swim) does offer a light breakfast consisting of fruit pastries juice and coffee for $8.00 which is what we did most days. The fish tacos there for lunch are wonderful also.

We highly recommend this place! My wife and I can't wait to go back.

We had very mixed feelings about this resort.
First, the good points:
Brand new resort and the rooms were very pleasant, comfortable beds, nice balconies.
The food was pretty good, we enjoyed the food at the Swim bar--had the fish tacos and steak salad. They were reasonably priced and very tasty. Ate at the tapas restaurant one evening and it was also very good. Shor had great sunset views but the food was overpriced. As Hyatt diamonds, we got the free breakfast buffet, very nice.
Pool area had lots of chairs, beds, and shade due to 10% occupancy.
Employees are very friendly.
Bad points:
Resort is too isolated, you're really stuck here, it takes at least 1/2 hr to get to a restaurant, and an hour to get to a great beach. If you just want to stay and veg out next to the pool, it's fine but it wasn't convenient for snorkeling, ocean swimming, diving, etc.
The hotel beach is unimpressive. The swimming area is in the inlet next to a dock, not that scenic and not great for snorkeling. The open ocean access to the water is very rocky and dangerous unless they rope off an area closed to boats. The boats and ski-doos were roaring by pretty close to shore.
The beautiful beaches are on the west end and too far to drive.
Until they get higher occupancy, the workers way outnumber the guests, and it's a little awkward.
The rooms have many quirks--it was almost impossible to shut the sliding door and re-activate the air conditioning. It required several slamming attempts and having someone check to see if the red light on the AC was activated. We had a suite and the separate sitting area was too warm and the bedroom was too cold, maintenance came a said that they need to calibrate the AC and that hasn't happened yet. There was instant coffee in the room (yuck) but no way to heat water, none of the ice machines worked so you had to call for ice and sometimes they would bring a minuscule container of ice.
The front desk staff are not properly trained and and our reservation was totally messed up and required several phone calls (at my expense) and emails to fix it. The check-out took over an hour with new misc. charges and deposits showing up on each printout. Several people had to pour over our bill trying to figure it out, it was very annoying. No one could print out our boarding passes and told me to pay $5 to log onto the business center computers to print them.
Would I stay here again? Probably not, it's pleasant enough here but too isolated and the lack of great swimming/snorkeling beach was a dealbreaker. We added the Hyatt nights onto a week at Kura Hulanda Beach Resort on Westpunt. Westpunt has great beaches but the resort there has bad service and overpriced food. It would be great if Curacao could somehow combine a great beach resort with good service & food.

I spent 7 days in this wonderful resort, and I enjoyed every single minute of it. Yes, the location is quite remote - it's a 30 minutes ride to Willemstad - but in return you get amazing views and a quiet and peaceful atmosphere. In case you do want to leave the premises: taxi's aren't that expensive and Hyatt will be offering a shuttle service soon. When it comes to food: of course it's also nice to get a taste of the island's authentic cuisine. But for those people who don't appreciate goat head soup or pork tail stew: all three restaurants within this resort serve excellent meals. The food you order is fresh and tasty, no matter whether you have lunch or dinner at Medi, Shor or SWIM. No complaints whatsoever!
The ambiance is truly amazing. An impressive lobby, comfortable rooms, a wonderful pool and beach area, a luxurious spa, a state of the art fitness center, and - very important - friendly staff. I felt very welcome at the Hyatt Regency Curaçao from the very first till the very last minute!

We recently spent 6 nights at the New Hyatt Resort in Curacao. This a beautiful new resort, opened only a few weeks, that will be one of the top resorts in the Caribbean when it is completed.. The size of the hotel is massive, the grounds and the private beach are very impressive. The hotel is located on an old plantation that includes a beautiful gold course. The hotel location is about 30 minutes from the airport and 20 minutes from downtown so I would recommend renting a car unless you just want to just lay around the pool and play golf. We enjoyed everything about the hotel. The service was fantastic. The staff caters to your every request with a great attitude. We ate at the Shor restaurant two nights and the Mediterranean restaurant one night. The Shor was our favorite as the food was good and the open air dining right on the water made for a wonderful dining experience. Outside of the hotel, we ate at The Boat House(seafood), El Gaucho(steak) and Snappers( very casual seafood on the water) least favorite. All three of these restaurants are located within 15 minutes of the hotel (it takes about 5 minutes to leave the hotel) and the food was good. We used the onsite dive operation located at the end of the beach. They have a very good dive boat, all new equipment and great dive masters. They too want to make you experience the best. The diving is good but not as good as Bonaire. Our ladies also visited the Spa and were very satisfied.
We went downtown for lunch and walked through the shops, which was an enjoyable afternoon. We also drove to the other end of the island just sightseeing and stopping and snorkeling at several of the beaches, which are beautiful.
We had a wonderful time and look forward to going back in a few years to see this great resort when it is finished.
