“Fabulous for all”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2013

My family has now dined here multiple times. We talk about it for days afterwards. We have never been so excited to have such a wonderful place in our town. I have recommended this to many, and they all call me to say how great the place is. Being Italian myself, I have a hard time finding a place that makes me say, "wow! This is better than mine!" The service is warm and family feeling. I can't wait to go back. It is really that good.

“Wow, whatever problems might have been...they now excel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2013

Just got home on. Friday night from an excellent dinner!!! Service was tops! Our waitress and bus staff friendly, efficient, truly 5 stars. Loved my special which was a gluten free gnocchi with a tomato base sauce so low in lactose, just a little cheese on top. Salad was so fresh and dark green, amazing tomato with nice dressing. We got here at 6:30pm and seated right away by friendly hostess. If you come after 7 pm looks like a short wait time. Wine is awesome. We shared the spumoni for dessert, plenty and yummy. Plenty to take home from my meal and I appreciate how well they packed my leftovers. The atmosphere is fun, not quiet or boring. We will return!

“MI ITALY is Glen Ellyn's new hidden gem.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 14, 2013

This place was great and an welcome addition to dining in Glen Ellyn. Its a hidden gem that serves rustic Southern Italian fare which is home made with the freshest ingredients. The menu includes a wide variety of house made pastas. Everything on the menu is made in-house including the sausage, braciole and meatballs, all of which were excellent. We also had egg plant lasagna, tortellini, pasta fagioli soup and caprese salad (all of which were excellent). The portion sizes are more than ample and the sauce is authentic, slow cooked, not rushed. The atmosphere is welcoming and the dining relaxed, European style, which for those in a rush is incorrectly confused for poor service. MI Italy invites you to relax and enjoy your meal and your company at your own pace so you are not feeling rushed into ordering just so that the establishment can turn its tables over every 1.25 hours. We met and were assisted by the Chef/Owner Vincenzo who helped explain the specials and the rest of the menu. He is a great host and wanted only to ensure that we felt welcomed and enjoyed our dining experience. He is straight from Italy and clearly has a passion for serving great Italian dishes. The lemoncello is also home made and comes in 2 varieties - traditional and creamy. Try both as an after dinner cordial and you will not be dissappointed. The creamy was our favorite. Its a great place for family dining. We will definitely be back.

“Great atmosphere! The food and service didn't measure up.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2013 via mobile

What a great decor makeover from the previous restaurant at this site! We couldn't wait to enjoy the charming, quintessentially Italian atmosphere. However, we found ourselves disappointed on several counts, including a very poorly trained server, lack of hospitality from the owner, mediocre food not up to par with the price, and incongruities such as nice table linens but super-cheapy silverware that degraded the whole table setting. We also notes a sanitation issue of not changing table linens for the next customer and resetting the table with the glassware turned upside-down, thereby putting the rim into contact with the dirty table. Yuk! Makes me wonder what standards of cleanliness are kept in the kitchen. The only part of the meal we enjoyed was the tiramisu & coffee. With so many other better choices in town, we will likely not return, except maybe for dessert. What a disappoint this place doesn't present a feeling of warmth, hospitality, and personal attention - I could have overlooked the unspectacular food.
