The perfect combination for your trip to Galena Illinois! The Wild Turkey is only 10-15 minutes from downtown yet sits nestled in a country hillside surrounded by nature and peace. The owners; Larry & Nancy are both easy going people who have managed to balance the fine line between being social and giving you privacy. The home was built in 1990 to replicate an old farmhouse style. The house is spacious, clean and very comfortable. We were given tips on were to park downtown and given insights into local events and happenings. They supplied us with hearty breakfast's which included wonderful blueberry stuffed crepes, peach french toast, bacon or sausage and lovely fruit dishes. Of course there was hot steaming coffee and orange juice. They Wild Turkey still operates on the "handshake method" for reservations.
..they did not require us to put down a deposit and said we could pay the day we left (and by check!). The cost was only $111 per night, per room for 2 people (that included taxes). Compared to the high rates in downtown-this was a deal!
