After reading several of the Tierra Linda reviews on TripAdvisor, my husband and I booked a room at this property for two nights at the end of March. This was our first visit to Galena, IL and we decided to bring our large dog with us (which was why we chose this B&B as it was one of the very few that allows dogs).
This B&B is located in a very rustic setting, perfect if you are looking for something quiet and out of the way. It was comfortable and the host, Armando, went out of his way to make sure that our dog and us were accommodated. He has several other large dogs on the property, but they were well-behaved and got along well with our timid dog.
The room we were assigned ("La Luna") is one of only two rooms available at this B&B. As such, the owner/manager can give his guests much attention. The room itself was comfortable but was pretty basic--no TV, few amenities, and not a lot of privacy. If you are looking for a really pampered experience or lodging, I would not necessarily recommend this property. If you're looking for a comfortable, friendly, laid-back lodging in a quiet, out of the way setting, then this B&B is perfect.
The host did prepare a large homemade breakfast for us each morning and offered us a glass of wine upon arrival and each night. In addition, each night he made a huge pot of homemade chicken stew/soup for the dogs and gave our dog all he wanted to eat. Armando is helpful with area recommendations on things to do.
