It has won awards for its food and I know why. This was our first time in a B&B and I wasn't sure what to expect. We're a younger couple so I thought we'd be staying with older couples who had time to lunge around and chat. We were treated to some fabulous turtle pie for an evening snack and some delicious wine. The accomodations were very nice. We had an old fashioned record player in our room and the a private bath. The breakfast was the highlight - carmel covered apples to start and then a Mexican breakfast dish. It was quite yummy.
From the research we did, this sounds like th best place to stay in Galena for the price!

We enjoyed our stay at this conviently located bed and breakfast. The breakfast was fancy and delicious. The innkeepers were pleasant and helpful and recommended a great dining place for an evening dinner. Highly recommend!

My husband and I just spent our four year anniversary at the Queen Anne B & B. We had a wonderful experience. The room we stayed in (Sir William) was large with a gas fireplace. The innkeepers were very friendly and helpful. They helped us make dinner reservations, find a church time, and find a place to rent snowshoes. The room was a bit warm during the night, but the excellent, homemade breakfast more than made up for that. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience!

Why would these people go into the b&b business when they obviously do not have the personality for it? They were cold, unwelcoming, made us all feel like they were being put upon by our stay and rushed us out Sunday on the dot. First, the house needs a new coat of paint, the wallpaper needs to be reglued on and the cobwebs need to be cleaned from the corners. Second, the headboard needs to be attached to something so it doesn't bang against the wall with every movement made. Third, the windows need screens and something to hold them open, as it's hot in the rooms and there's no air conditioning. Ceiling fans circulating old air doesn't cut it. Fourth, the promised snacks at 5:00 P.M. consisted of Kool-aid and nothing else, not even animal crackers. Fifth, breakfast smelled like stew and looked like it was made from whatever was left over from their dinner the night before. Sixth, the ramshackled neighbor's house which was our view had party people clinking beer bottles at night and a dog that constantly barked, so there was little peace and quiet. Look somewhere else for a nicer stay.

As the owner I can assure you we have never served a parlor party at 5pm without have a treat of some sort. Treats have varied from cheese and crackers to Starwberry Crepes. We have never served Koolaid. We have served wine, teas, cider and a variety of fruit juices. We have never served stew or leftovers for breakfast. Inn Traveler's Magazine awarded us Best Breakfast in the Midwest for 2006. We have many walls with wall paper and we probably will have a loose seam at some point. Our paint is fine. We were featured in the 39th annual historic home tour for Galena on Sept. of 2006. Each room has it's own room air conditioner. If a head board is loose, why not tell me? - Mike

We weren't very happy here. The bed was lumpy. The room was way too warm and we couldn't sleep. We couldn't pull down the shade in the bathroom, so we had to choose between using the bathroom in the dark or being seen by the neighbors. Another shade could not be pulled down in the bedroom either. The breakfast was OK, but not great. The innkeepers are very friendly and were the highlight of this place. This B&B lacks the care and personal touches we've found at others. Maybe they are just getting started and need more time. This could be a quality B&B with some care and work.

We have old fashioned shades in each room with only one that does not work. It is behind an antique Eastlake bed with only one third of the window exposed and is always kept in the down position. All other window shades work and are at the half way position when guests arrive. It is possible that they can roll up to tight, in which case all you have to do is let me know (I live on the 3rd floor) or call my number and it transfers to my cell if I am away from the home or reach up and unroll it by hand. The bed has a 4 inch pillow top which we have removed for guests who mentioned that they did not prefer it. Each room has it's own air conditioner. We have won many awards, such as Innkeeper's Magazine's Best for Rest & Relaxation in 2005 and Chicago Tribune's Best Small Hotel- Sept 4, 2005. Thanks, Mike.
