My friend and I planned our Galena Girls Getaway for Labor Day. We chose Irish Cottage based on the reviews and price. it was comparably priced to hotel's in town but due to all of the extras and great reviews we decided to give it a try. I'm so glad we did.
We arrived around 3pm and our room was ready. We were provided with breakfast coupons for the complimentary breakfast and an entertainment schedule. The staff was warm, friendly and helpful from check in to checkout. It seems like they are very hard workers and remember you. We had the same waitress for breakfast and dinner one day!
As other reviews mentioned its about 5 minutes from Town but you honestly don't even need to leave. Itish Cottage offers free wifi, free hot breakfast ( real breakfast like french toast, quiche, scrambled eggs crepes, scones in addition to cereal, otameal, yogurt, juices, coffee, milk etc), live irish dancers and music playing in the pub in the evenings ( on the weekends), indoor pool and jacuzzi, a day spa and irish pub.... everything you need for a great relaxing weekend. I wish we had stayed longer.
The room was comfortable, spacious and clean. Irish theme and decor throughout. The room we booked was facing the parkng lot which was fine. A little noisy on Saturday night from motorcycles but other than that we didnt hear any traffic noise. We splurged for the Deluxe room with sitting area and I'm glad we did. Plenty of room and a great place to come back and relax after a day of shopping. Our room had 2 Double beds, a microwave, small refrigerator. Perfect for you to bring your leftovers back to the room and reheat! The bathroom had nice toiletries and we received a free Sunday newspaper!
The hotel's library was extensive and cozy at the same time. Electric fireplaces burned each of the rooms of the library making the perfect atmosphere to get away with a good book. We didnt have time for the spa but it offered a variety of services. The pool was nice as was the jacuzzi. We missed the Irish dancers but the live entertainment was good. Service and food quality in the pub for breakfast and dinner was also good. They streamline the breakfast and tlel you what's being offered and bring you the plate. The food was all very tast and I thought it was a very smart way to do it. Much better than most free breakfasts tht i've experienced. The pub offered a nice varety of options for dinner and drinks. Try the irish fries with corned beef , swiss cheese and thousand island dressing ! yum. Overall, i would highly reccomend it and look forward to my next visit!
