The Stillman Inn was a wonderful place to get away. It has its history, antiques, and beautiful detail of a mansion of such age, with the modern convenience of gas fireplaces (our room had two), a jacuzzi, and Dish Network.
The breakfasts were a highlight of the trip. One morning, we had omlettes and french toast served with a topping of your choice (peach, apple, etc). The second morning offerings were quiche and heart shaped pancakes (blueberry, banana, chocolate chip, etc). All this plus juice, coffee, teas, pastries, and yogurt with granola. It was outstanding! All served on antique china. It's shocking to see how small coffee cups used to be, but Dave, the innkeeper, keeps it filled. In addition, fresh fruit, cookies, sodas, popcorn, and ice cream treats are available at all times and are included in the cost of the stay.
Dave is a fantastic host. He is very friendly and accommodating, and loves to facilitate couples getting to know each other. He even snaps everyone's picture and has them displayed with names in the parlor.
I do wish that the Stillman Inn was a little closer to attractions. It is within walking distance to downtown, but the Stillman Inn sits atop a whopper of a hill. It also sits right over Highway 20, but there was minimal noise in the evenings and at night. I recommend taking Dave's advice and using the foot bridge to access downtown- it was great to avoid parking headaches downtown. I highly recommend the Stillman Inn!
