“Nothing special but nothing terrible”

Just got back from a 2 night stay for a family reunion-our party had a total of 9 rooms reserved. Most of us had either 2 double beds or a king with a sofa sleeper. These are your typical hotel rooms except I thought even smaller than normal. Clean but worn and a bit tired looking. One room did have ants which housekeeping promptly took care of. My brother and his wife reserved a suite: king bed, sofa sleeper and LARGE sitting area-this was a very nice room and only $25 more than the regualar king room. They also had a mini fridge. All the rooms had a balcony with 2 chairs which was nice. However, I went to check ours out and the screen door was off track and leaning up against the side of the building. When we were in the lobby I mentioned it to the front desk because I did not want to get blamed for it. Well, about 15 minutes later a maintenance man was at our door with a new screen-I was impressed with that.

Housekeeping was poor. Our room was cleaned promptly but were not given more coffee condiments or toilet paper and only given 2 towels (no washclothes or hand towels) with a note that they'd be back with more. They never did come back. We snagged what we needed off a housekeeping cart left in the hallway. Also, no pool towels the first day (Friday) although there were some on Saturday.

Members of our party who ate in the restaurant found it slow, dirty cups and silverware and not very good food. Drove into Shelbyville to eat after that.

Outdoor pool is awesome with plenty of seating. Indoor pool nice also. Indoor jacuzzi small but fine-outdoor jacuzzi colder than the pool!

Beautiful view of the lake, nice trails, gazebos and marina.

Front desk service was okay-quick check in and check out but everyone working the desk seemed to be an airhead.

All in all, our stay was fine. Nothing bad but nothing exceptional-this could be a fabulous resort if they'd step it up a notch. Paid $119/night over a weekend-not terrible but anything over $80/night you're paying more than it's worth.

My wife "Courtney" and I went to Eagle Creek with with three other couples for a golf weekend for our "two year" anniversary. The hotel messed up our rooms so bad that it was comical. They had us switch rooms three times because it wasn't the right size and make up. Plus when the switched the rooms, twice we were put in rooms that were already occupied! This is hotel management 101. We needed cots in the room and they said no problem....well the only way the cots fit was if they took out all of the furniture! Our rooms were nothing but a sea of beds and cots (and one bed in particular had a strange odor to it). We also had an invoice under our door after the first night and it turns out that they only had us for one night when we made the reservation for two nights!

The golf course itself was beautiful...but...the temperatures were around 100 degrees each day and there were no water coolers on the course! Just 4 vending machines and three of them didn't work or were empty! Plus the beverage cart girl made her last run around the course at 3pm. Didn't know that most golfers stopped playing at 3!

The bar/restaurant on the first floor was interesting. There was a steak special one night where they had a "chef" grilling the steaks. We all asked for medium-well and got rare!....Scary rare to be exact. We ended up cooking the steaks our selves so that we could eat dinner without the fear of catching ecoli or something. The restaurant also has about 5 or 6 menu options, one of those being a ham sub. I ordered this on our last day and was informed that they are out of ham! Huh?!?!? Memo to Food/Beverage staff, maybe you want to make sure that you have plenty of ham when there are only like 4 or 5 other choices.

To sum up...Great Golf Course & Pro Shop ( I shot 72-74-76-71 so that helped)....Hotel and Service needs a major overhaul.

Our room was infested with ants. When we went down to the front desk to complain they said they new there was an ant problem and would have housekeeping vacuum and spray our room. The room was not vacuumed and I doubt that it was sprayed since we saw no signs of dead ants. We would have left immediately but had no other place to go since it was 4th of July weekend and we had a commitment to visit family and friends staying on the lake. The ants were crawling on the tables, beds and even us. It was horrible. We were not told of any ant problem when making our reservations the week prior.

“Very disappointed...”

My wife and I wanted a romantic weekend getaway. Since we live in the Chicago area, this seemed like a good place to try based on their website. We are not golfers and cannot comment on the golf course, but the hotel was below average and needed some serious updating. Not anything close to what I would consider a resort.

The water drained from the tub very slowly, so the drain may have been clogged. There was a lot of dust on the comforter and holes in the sheet below. The wood railing on the balcony was rotting. The exercise room was undergoing some kind of remodeling, and not available. The saunas were also out of order. The television was very outdated and small. We had brought a portable DVD player and a movie, but we couldn't hook it up.

The people in the room next to us were running from room to room all night slamming doors. I eventually had to call the front desk and it did get a little quieter. The Rosewood restaurant was just average, and overpriced.

I had purchased the "sweetheart" package from the hotel, since we were planning a romantic weekend. This included coupons for dinner and breakfast as well as a gift basket. We were so disappointed in our stay, that we left early and didn't even use the breakfast coupons.

“Do not deliver what is promised... Do not respond to complains!”

Booked over the Internet for the Mother's Day Weekend in May 2004. Many small problems made me really upset with the hotel. Wrote twice to them with no response. None!!! Those problems were:
1. The price I booked was different from the price they charged me. Talked with the manager who said it was fixed. At the checkout, it wasn't. If I didn't notice I hadpaid more;
2. The website advertised the "new" swimming pool. Well, it was not working and my children became boring after some hours;
3. Another ad on the website mentioned about bikes and fishing rods for rental. Well, none of them were available. Front desk said they were broken and they didn't have time to fix!!!! Come on!!!
4. Food was really average. Nothing special;
5. Room was a little less than a 3 star motel. Nothing like a resort (as the name says);
6. Poor information on what to do and really not friendly staff.
The worst, I think is that I didn't get any feedback from them after two complains. DO NOT RECOMMEND!! DO NOT BELIEVE ON THEIR WEBSITE!!
