Whenever we come to the northern suburbs of Chicago, we enjoy eating at Dave's Italian Kitchen. The place is always crowded, and diners always seem to be enjoying themselves. The waiters are knowledgeable and accommodating. We like being able to choose a vegan dish if we want to. The latest we experienced was a vegetable potpourri served over a brown rice risotto. The restaurant opens at 4:00 pm, which helps bridge the gap between a late lunch and an early dinner. It's in the basement of a building in downtown Evanston, but there is an elevator for those who do not care to or are unable to negotiate the long staircase.
