This hotel was a great value for my money. The rooms were spacious and the staff was very helpful. The free parking and nearby bus stop were great and made it easy for my boys and I to leave our car and bus downtown to Chicago attractions. The staff knew just which bus we should take. There are even nearby food amenities like Girodanos in addition to a reasonably close CVS Pharmacy.
This hotel is in a cool old neighborhood but because of that has a couple of downsides. First, the common areas (lobby and breakfast room) are TINY! Secondly, the parking is really tight so it was hard to get my car out of the garage. I was afraid I would hit another vehicle. Also, the furnishings and carpets are pretty dated. What wasn't dated was the microwave and refrigerator, though. It was great to be able to keep some snacks and drinks chilled. The bedding and towels were updated and clean, too. The room itself was spotless, even the baseboards and rugs. That is saying something for an old place. Oh, AND the windows actually open to allow for fresh air. Lovely.
If you are looking to save a couple of bucks and don't mind a 25 minute bus ride downtown (it really wasn't bad--it totally beats driving in Chicago traffic), this is a good choice compared to the outrageously priced accommodations in the rest of the city-proper. Also, if you are visiting people at Loyola, you couldn't pick a better location.
