“Appears to be on the upswing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2013

We have been going to Burnt Toast for years, ever since they opened. The service and food quality had been declining, and we gave them a break for about 6 months. Yesterday, my wife and I decided to give them another try.

We were seated promptly, and our server greeted us at our table right away. She continued to check in with us often throughout our meal, which told me that they had been focusing on improving their service.

I had the Country Fried Steak and Eggs, The portion of the Country Fried Steak is about half of what it used to be, but they have not had a price increase for a while, so I guess that offsets each other. The food tasted very good, The country fried steak was cooked just right, and the hashbrowns were served hot. One of my pet peeves is when restaurants seem to have a hard time serving hot hashbrowns. Burnt Toast was having this problem for a while, but they seem to have overcome this problem yesterday as they were piping hot.

My wife had the tuna salad melt, which she said was very good. She had had a disappointing sandwich at another restaurant the previous evening, so she said this helped to make up for it. She said the flavor was good, and the sandwich was grilled just right.

All in all, if this trend continues, we will be visiting Burnt Toast on a regular basis again. Keep up the good work.

“Still above average”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2013

While passing through Elgin recently, I made a beeline to Burnt Toast for a filling and tasty breakfast. Second visit in four months and this restaurant does not disappoint. Tried their very delicious French Toast with a side of scrambled eggs and bacon. The French Toast slices are thick and topped with organic cinnamon sugar. I really enjoyed the coffee back in June; it was a bit off on this visit. A nice place to dine and meet. Located along Randall Road in The Grove shopping center.

“Overpriced for average food and average service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2013 via mobile

The food is typical breakfast food. There is nothing spectacular that makes it worth the price. Service is ok. They servers are nice, but slow with drink refills. If there was another breakfast type restaurant closer, I don't think Burnt Toast would be as busy.

“Excellent”

Thsi is a fabulous, go-to sit down breakfast place. Its a little pricey, but the food is exceptional and the service is terrific. Have the pancakes and bacon.

“Great Breakfast”

Excellent restaurant. A large eatery, yet they had us seated within a couple minutes on a busy Sunday morning. Food was excellent as was the service.
