Our vehicle had broken down near the town of Effingham, IL. Both the repair shop and the tow driver recommended this little known place near by. It might not be part of a chain, but the stay was excellent. The staff took care of us during our stay of 5 or so days. The room we were given had an outside entrance, was clean, and much better than what we expected to get, considering the price.
The sign says continental breakfast, so we expected cereal, donuts and coffee. But it was more than that, we had the choice of 2 cereals, oatmeal, pancakes, 2 waffles (the belgian waffle was EXCELLENT), toast (with a variety of jams), coffee, milk and OJ. Plus, unlike similar places that we've stayed (Roadway Inn and Econo Lodge) you didn't have to stay standing while you ate, they had a nice sitting area for breakfast. Cool and comfortable.
We have traveled through this area many a time, but next time, this is the only place I will stay. The staff was the best part of our experience. The place might not look like much, but dont let it's outside fool you. Give them a try.
