“Awesome location, but”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2014

If you are looking for a great place to RV in/near St. Louis, MO, you have come to the right place. If you like to see and hear trains at work, you will be very happy. On the other hand, if you are not crazy about hearing train whistles at all hours of the night, this might not be the place for you. We enjoyed our 2-night stay but an additional night would have been questionable. Great views of the St. Louis Arch. All sites are paved. Plenty of full sites with electric (30/50), water, sewer, cable and free WiFi. At a Good Sam discount price of $47.70, it is a very reasonable place to stay.

We usually stay downtown when we travel to St.Louis for Cardinal games. Decided to give this a try since we had parked there to catch Metro into stadium in past and it looked ok. Objective was to save money over downtown hotels but still be in a fairly decent clean hotel. Was leery of safety in East St. Louis but this place is lit up like daytime at night and is on the edge of town so no real concerns. Staff is extremely welcoming and friendly. Arrived way ahead of check in time but they had a room and allowed us to check in so we were able to get our things to our room then hop on the metro (in their parking lot) and head into town for the rest of the day and evening. Hotel was clean. King room was huge, bathroom was large as well. Parking free. Saved over $100 from a downtown stay a couple weeks prior. One other concern was smoking allowed which I detest but had been told that there is only 1 smoking floor. Noticed no smoke odors. I have no complaints about this hotel and given the savings, the metro access and ease at getting downtown this will be my go to hotel from now on. Hotel savings mean more Cardinal games I can attend!

I was very surprised by this hotel...in a good way! Clean & comfortable room, and everything seemed new and in good condition. Great view of the Arch across the river. I valet parked my car at the casino then walked to the hotel (short walk on the sidewalk) since their valet lot is fenced in with security cameras, but the open self-park lot seemed fine since it's an industrial area with security patrol. I'd definitely stay here again next time I'm in St. Louis. The casino was fun too with good food (Philly Cheesesteaks from the deli) and cheap beer!

Room Tip: Get a Arch-view room, this allows for a great view of the Arch, river, and the downtown skyline.

Apart from the fact that this hotel was SO difficult to find because of construction, we thoroughly enjoyed it. Room, pool, and service were all just great. The casino was clean and fun and you simply can't beat the location for sightseeing in St. Louis. The staff everywhere were all OUTSTANDING!

Room Tip: You can face the Gateway Arch for $10 more than you face the casino. It's up to you which you pr...

Two weeks ago we stopped here for 4 days over July 4th. We were very nervous about this trip due to a couple of things. One being concerned our 41 foot fifth wheel would make it under bridges to get into the area of the park. No problem. People reporting getting in is confusing and they end up going over the bridge into St Louis. The turn into the RV park is the last left turn before you get to the bridge and is signed. Knowing that should be clear not to get onto the bridge.

The check-in was no problem and staff was friendly and informative. We were assigned a spot but told we could pick any spot we wanted. We chose one on the south side (big rig area) facing the grass and the arch. Was very convenient for our dogs and kids. Is this a bad area ? Yes its a bad area , any inner city area anywhere in the country will be a bad area. The park has constant security patrols and is fenced. Not once on the Casino grounds did we feel not safe and never saw a person out of place anywhere near us while in the RV park or the Casino grounds. Campers were the usual friendly and no issues with noise or nonsense.

The Casino gives you access to their indoor swimming pool and kids are allowed in to swim. The hotel is a separate building from the Casino. The security vans give you transport from the RV park to the hotel and Casino or you can drive over and park in the hotel parking lot. They will also pick you up at the train or give you a ride to the train to get into St Louis. If you are going to a sporting event they have small buses that leave from the hotel to the various stadiums/arena's in the city. Bus driver was great and gave exact instructions when and where to meet him after the game. We took in a cardinals game, stadium is amazing. All transport is free , tips appreciated but not necessary.

One day we took the train into the city , first stop is the arch. No issues or problems if your staying in the arch park is patrolled by park rangers on bikes.

About 20 minutes up the highway we found a nice shopping area with all the usual big boxes, whole foods and trader joes ect, very safe. Don't go left out of the casino unless your driving over the bridge into the city, go right, there is a BP right up the road on the way to the highway gas/diesel and the entrance to the highway.

Hook ups were fine, internet was the usual , good at off peak times and slow at peak. No charge for the internet and bathrooms and small convenience store were clean and well maintained. If you are headed to the st louis area and want to catch a few sites, this was an awesome place to stay.

Camped here on the last night of a cross country month long trip. Picked it due to it's proximity to the Arch, as that is pretty much all we wanted to see. I hadn't researched the crime rate to learn that East Saint Louis has the absolute highest crime rate IN THE NATION. Still, I must say the campground itself is very well maintained is actually very nice. I saw security driving around each and every time I was outside, and it was very each to get a shuttle to take us to the subway area and the bridge to walk across to the Arch,- which we did. We were planning to walk back across after dark, but a national park ranger whom I started talking to for dinner recommendations strongly suggested we call a taxi and do not walk in that area. He said it has the highest murder rate, and after googling a few things we found out he was not lying. So we took a taxi back to the campground. We considered packing up and leaving instead of going to sleep,- but we were tired, and we had self-protection with us. We were a little nervous only based on what we learned about the city,- not about anything we experienced in the campground. Aside from the crime rate, this campground was one of the nicest we stayed in. If you are camping near the Arch, this is the place to be. Note: we got very lost trying to find it coming eastbound on I-70. The casino is new, so it wasn't on our two year old GPS. Wished we would have updated the mapping system. Signage was there but not the best it could be.

Thank you for staying with us. We hate to hear you were afraid for your safety. The Casino Queen prides itself on our top notch Security Team. The RV Park is in a fenced in area, equipped with 24 hour video surveillance, and security patrols the area 24 hours per day. The RV Park provides a map to all of our guests that includes a phone number to contact us if needs may arise.
The casino, hotel, and RV Park are newer but they were built in 2007, so our location should have been accessible by GPS. Prior to that the Casino Queen was established as a river boat casino in 1993 in the same location we are today. In the future, if you are having problems finding us we would be happy to provide directions.
