“Nice hotel close to the casino”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2014

This is a nice hotel. The parking is right in front of the hotel, but was almost always FULL when we were there for the weekend. I think that casino patrons are allowed to park there. The only food available is in the casino or at the Burger King across the street about 300 yards away. There is no breakfast in the hotel, much less free breakfast. There are restaurants in the casino. There is another hotel next door. Maybe they have restaurants. There is no pool but there is free coffee from 6 AM on. There is a ballroom, so there may be A LOT of non-hotel guests. There was a graduation party on Saturday night and there was NO PARKING available in the hotel lot. Had to park in a casino lot and walk. We were able to unload in front of the hotel. The hotel was clean. There was a "Deli" in the casino about 200 yards away. THE REMOTE CONTROL ON THE TV DID NOT WORK PROPERLY. Did not bother the front desk with this. Small refrigerator in the room was not very cold. The hotel is a ways from town, BUT the #20 city bus does come to the front. The front desk had complimentary USA Today and local newspapers. The elevators had room card security lock on them so that guests at the ballroom cannot go upstairs. The front desk people were polite and so were the people at the casino.

Room Tip: For a better RIVER view of the Illinois River, choose an ODD numbered room up high. If you need foo...

My biggest issue with the hotel was the lack of any sort of free breakfast. I suppose this is to encourage the guests to walk over to the river boat and pay for the buffet.
The was no information in my room as to available services, local attractions, check out times, etc...
The Wifi worked well and it was easy to connect.
I ate dinner at the casino buffet. It was good. Otherwise, I didn't spend much time in the casino so overall, I will stay somewehere else next time.

First off, I must say that this hotel is very clean, and the bed in our room was quite comfortable.
For the gamblers, the casino is a short, pleasant walk just across the street, or there is a shuttle available if you can't walk.
Now, if you are traveling with children, beware there is NO POOL at this hotel. This was disappointing to us, and unusual I think. Our family traveled with my husband on business, and we had planned to spend a day at the pool while he attended meetings. I guess they want you spending time at the casino, not swimming.
There are NO restaurants on the property, but several choices across the street at.... the casino!
As for the hotel bar, Bourbons, don't bother. It is VERY small, and the bartender was very rude to our group. I guess she didn't realize that this group (who have traveled together on business for years) was simply buying rounds for everyone. She antagonized one of us when he tried to buy drinks, accusing him of trying to buy a Long Island Iced Tea for a patron who had already consumed one. (Evidently there is a drink limit of two, and she felt it was too soon for the second one!) Don't misunderstand... this is a great group of individuals and no one was becoming rowdy, or even loud.
Also, Hotel security was called while we were there, as another guest had misplaced her purse, and we were questioned as to what we'd seen. This woman did not even recall where she might have left her purse, and our leisure time spent dealing with this was not enjoyable.
Most of the hotel staff seemed uninterested in assisting us with anything. No one ever asked if there was anything they could do for us, and we were usually given the impression that we were bothering them with any questions.
If you are planning to be at the casino all day & evening, and only return to this hotel to sleep and shower, then it's fine. Otherwise, choose one of the other area hotels.

Room Tip: Walls are thin... you can hear everything in the room next door.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your comments. We are very proud of the cleanliness standards of our hotel and we did just recently replace all of the beds in the hotel.

We are also very proud of our standards of service and regret your perception of our less than stellar service. We addressed these issues with the staff members involved ensuring they balance their job tasks with the positive relationships we desire to have with each of our guests.

I would like to clarify that we do limit serving Long Island Iced Teas to a maximum of two per guest for the safety of our guests as they do include five shots of liquor each.

Spent a couple of days at Par-A-Dice Hotel and Casino in East Peoria Il. Hotel was clean and comfortable, a little bit of age showing here and there, but well worth the price. Staff was friendly, shuttle to the Casino was prompt, security was fine. No complaints except the restaurants were not on site. They were in the casino pavilion. That was inconvient but maybe a blessing, save the high dollar steak house the other restaurants were not worth the bother. The breakfast in the buffet was acceptable, the rest was poor at best. The Casino was generous but the humidity and temp. were sometimes unbearable. This is not unusual for actual boat casino platforms.

Room Tip: Maybe our luck came from staying in Room 711

The hotel is next to but not connected to the Par A Dice Casino. The property is well kept and clean. Our room (400) was on the corner with two windows which was nice. The room was clean, the bed comfortable and the bathroom amenities good. In room coffee was one of those single serve units with basic quality coffee. There is much better complimentary coffee in the bar right off the lobby (available even when the bar was closed).
If you play in the casino, be sure to check and see if some or all of your room will be covered based upon casino play. We had two rooms; one for us and one for friends. When I inquired about the possibility of comps, a rather disinterested young woman said I would have to go over to the casino and check with a host. I did and they comped the room. When our friends checked out, a very helpful young man said he would be happy to call over to the host and take care of it. I think this is a matter of training more than clerk number one's attitude. Overall, a very good experience.

Room Tip: Corner rooms have more windows.

I enjoy coming to East Peoria as a sort of recess from work. This casino is in the Peoria area and makes for a nice recess when I'm in town for business and also for pleasure. Even though we have casinos in the Chicago area the Par-A Dice offers comparable table games and slots, good food, drinks and a charming atmosphere. Las Vegas is Las Vegas but there is something about the Par-A-Dice that makes one feel a bit more comfortable and less like you are being hustled. The Casino is nicer than many casinos around the country and is always worth a visit. I tell my friends who don't gamble just stop in and play $10 or 20 dollars for a really, unique gaming experience you won't find anywhere else (at least from my perspective)!!!
