Like having your own country house for a day – that is the only way I can describe our wedding day at Nibley House. A gem of a Georgian house set on the edge of the Cotswolds with breath-taking views towards the Tyndale Monument, and surrounded by beautiful gardens.
We opted for a civil ceremony held in the drawing room followed by canapés on the lawn and a meal cooked by the talented Jenny, eaten in the dining room under the newly restored ceiling. Seamlessly the drawing room became a comfortable lounge and the dining room a dance floor. We rounded off the evening with bacon sandwiches before retiring to one of the three newly refurbished bedrooms, all individually decorated in period style. Breakfast the following morning was delicious.
Perhaps Nibley House strongest point is the willingness of Anne and her team to provide exactly what you would like; large party – put a marquee on the lawn, hog roast – no trouble, want to do your own flowers – go ahead. Oh one thing though, you can’t have fireworks as it’s a working farm. We didn’t need them!
