“What a great bed!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 22, 2006

We were here just one night recovering from a long transatlantic flight, then left for home the next day. I honestly cannot remember having a better bed anywhere - pillowtop mattress and down comforter - just like home. We slept well in spite of our jet lag. There are also several places nearby to eat. An IHop is open 24 hours. We found a nice residential area for a walk. Not elegant, but certainly a good value for an overnight stay. Was told this hotel was changing ownership in 2006 - to Radissson or Ramada, can't remember which.

I stayed at the doubletree in chicage for a conference I had to attend and the stay was very enjoyable. The staff was nice and helpful. The rooms were wonderful! Very clean and nice. Beds are very cozy! The only thing that was bad was we called down for more towels (2 nights) and both nights we had to either call twice or go down and get them ourselves. Other than that the stay was very enjoyable. They give you really good cookies if you are hungry and offered to open the giftshop after hours for us to get food (b/c we couldn't leave the hotel). I enjoyed the stay as well as the people who i was with.

When we arrived late on a Thursday evening we had to wait over 40 minutes to be picked up at the airport. They did not give directions as to where to be picked up and we had to call them twice for that alone. All the other hotel shuttles ran by at the very least, 3 times before our shuttle arrived. The room itself was a very comfortable sized room and was clean. The bathroom was very clean as well and had more than enough amenities. The service for checking into our rooms was poor and after we checked in we went to the bar and was completely ignored by the bartender for at least 20 minutes. We also noticed there was bottled water provided in the rooms for $2.50. This water was warm. You could walk to the vending machines, which all seem to be close to the rooms and by ice cold bottled water, (the same size bottles), for $1.75. We reported the next morning that our air conditioner did not work throughout the night and they did not offer any compensation at all or even an apology. I was very disappointed overall.

Good points:
-Across the street from half a dozen restaurants/take-out places--the Steak & Shake is open 24 hours--Target store in same shopping center
-Clean & very quiet rooms--didn't hear neighbors, hallway noise, or airplanes
Not so good points:
-Very tired and dated-looking hallways and elevator don't make a great impression
-Front desk is understaffed, but people working there are pleasant
-One of the shuttle drivers has a bad attitude--I don't think working with the public was a good career choice for him
Overall, if you get a good price here it's not a bad choice.

We stayed here overnight 7/24/2004. The 4th floor room was remodeled recently w/ new carpet, etc. Hottest shower water I've ever had at a hotel. Staff was friendly, parking was free which is a huge deal in the Rosemont/O'Hare area. The only drawback was the unheated outdoor pool. 65 degrees in July made it too cold for my little one to get into the water. Over it was a good stay. We'll go back. Never heard a single airplane!

Stayed there 11/17/03. The first room I was assigned was about 90 degrees and had half-eaten plates of food in several places in the room. They graciously found me another room - 65 degrees, as far away from the front desk as possible [I had a lot of luggage] and next to the hotel boiler/HVAC unit [very, very noisy]. I'm a HiltonHonors Gold member and have come to expect better. This is the worst hotel I've seen in 10 years. The door to my room didn't close fully, a major security problem. Hotel manager on duty seemed unconcerned, and the hotel had no guest surveys to fill out. I'll never return there.

I stayed at the Doubletree Club O'Hare hotel from 12/28/02 thru 1/1/02 and had a very nice stay overall - would definitely stay there again.

Cons:
- could not find the shuttle when arriving at O'Hare (need to give more specific info on how to find it) - but used shuttle going back with no problem - very couteous drivers too)
- it got a little noisy on New Years Eve - but then again, isn't that to be expected?

Pros:
- Clean and affordable rooms!!!!
- Comfortable bed (king-sized)
- Maid service was thorough
- Bathroom very clean!!!!!
- Coffee maker in room a big plus!
- Provided blowdryer, shampoo/toiletries
- On checkout, gave a break on the room since we checked out half day early - most hotels would not do that!
- hotel offered us use of free shuttle so we didn't have to pay for taxi to get to local grocery store, etc. which was nice!
- bar area and lobby downstairs was nice
- deli was also pretty good but ran out of a lot of food items one evening
- service was very courteous the whole time there!
