Booked hotel through stay123.com. First mistake - find another website.
Before booking, we called the hotel to see if they had ANY food available X-mas eve. Knowing we would be coming in at 9 pm, and flying out VERY early, we were told that room service would be available. Had it not been available, or anything open nearby, we would have minimally packed a sandwich or two.
Upon check in, the front desk staff were busy TALKING ON CELL PHONES. While we waited, and waited, and waited to be checked in, finally one got off her phone. These were obviously personal calls ("So what did he say next? Oh my God I loved that!!!"), I was ticked. The woman that finally checked us in explained that it was X-mas eve, and they "should not have to be working" as her rationale that we had to wait while they chatted on their phones. I reminded her that it was X-mas eve for us, too.
After check in, the horribly snippy lady informed us that room service meant a pizza parlor with delivery. She informed us, though, that they were probably not open. Nice. Here is it, X-mas eve, flying out at 6 am, and nothing to eat.
The room was okay, nothing to brag about, but clean at least.
Long term parked cars had seemingly NO security while we were gone (no fence, no guard). Just sitting out in the lot.
The shuttle ride was TERRIBLE. In the morning, they had it HOURLY (the website LIES - it is HOURLY). We asked very nicely if they could make any exception - as our flight time (6:50 am - international flight) meant we would need to leave at 4:00 am due to the HOURLY service. We were told there were no exceptions. Imagine our surprise, at 4 am, when a taxi was there to take us to the airport. No other passengers. Could this NOT have been done at a different time? As if others planned to leave at 4 am when it was already 10 pm the night before? They obviously knew we were the only guests riding over - again.....nice.
If you want ANY customer service - STAY ELSEWHERE!!!!!

“Nice, clean place”

The reception staff was helpful and polite. We had a small problem at the beginning but they straightened it out. The room we had seemed like new. Pick up at the airport went ok...it was Christmas day so they had to have another hotel pick us up but it was waiting for us by the time we got the luggage.
Overall, we were pleased and would stay again.

“If phone messages are important to you, beware”

This property was pleasant, better than we expected from reviews. We found to shuttle pick up at the airport as well as the return both prompt and problem free. the hotel had free local calls, which was a plus, and a nice restaurant, Tiffany's, very reasonable, across the parking lot.

The one defect was significant. We did not receive phone messages for up to 24 hours after they were left, and that is when the message light was first lit. When we complained to the management, they were totally indifferent, and acted like we just failed to see the light. This happened on more than one occasion.

“Decent hotel, deceptive service”

We found the hotel to be what we expected, clean, inexpensive and convenient to the airport. Unfortunately the shuttle service is terrible and the manager of the hotel seems to be completely unintersted in improving it. We waited 40 minutes at O'Hare for the shuttle that we were told would take ten minutes. We were subsequently stranded at the train station for more than an hour after being told we would be picked up in ten minutes (we took a taxi). Apparently everyone is told that the shuttle takes ten minutes, when it actually runs only when they can get someone to drive their single van.

My advice is to chose this hotel only after exhausting other possibilities, and certainly don't expect any services other than a basic, clean room. Take your own alarm; the wake-up call is a myth.

If you do have to stay here, take a taxi if your flight schedule is tight... and don't hesitate to try the (apparently independent) Tiffany's Restaurant... good food and very reasonable prices.

“Find a different spot”

Comfort Inn O'Hare

Aug 1, 2007

We booked and prepaid four nights here at the end of July. Our mistake! First off, when booking, we were given the option of a king non-smoking or a king smoking room. SInce we both smoke, we opted for the smoking room. When we checked in, we were told by the snippy, glib desk clerk that the hotel was completely non-smoking - and that we could just go stand outside to have a cigarette.

The room itself wasn't bad. However, the hotel does allow pets (great for us allergy sufferers.) and you notice their presence by the noise and the odor.

The complimentary breakfast consisted of stale cereal, and, if you were lucky enough to be there when they filled the cases, perhaps a bagel or donut, unless you wanted to cook your own (disgusting) waffle. The club room were the breakfast was set out is a tiny room given the size of the hotel, and seating in there was difficult. The tables were always dirty.

The desk staff were extremely unpleasant to deal with.

The free computer usage does not do anyone any good, as it was not working. We didn't bring a laptop, so we can't speak to the quality of the wi-fi.

There are surely better values out there, and you'd do well to search a bit longer and find one. This place is in no way indicative of the other lovely Comfort Inns in which we have stayed.
