“Decent hotel, deceptive service”

We found the hotel to be what we expected, clean, inexpensive and convenient to the airport. Unfortunately the shuttle service is terrible and the manager of the hotel seems to be completely unintersted in improving it. We waited 40 minutes at O'Hare for the shuttle that we were told would take ten minutes. We were subsequently stranded at the train station for more than an hour after being told we would be picked up in ten minutes (we took a taxi). Apparently everyone is told that the shuttle takes ten minutes, when it actually runs only when they can get someone to drive their single van.

My advice is to chose this hotel only after exhausting other possibilities, and certainly don't expect any services other than a basic, clean room. Take your own alarm; the wake-up call is a myth.

If you do have to stay here, take a taxi if your flight schedule is tight... and don't hesitate to try the (apparently independent) Tiffany's Restaurant... good food and very reasonable prices.

“Find a different spot”

Comfort Inn O'Hare

Aug 1, 2007

We booked and prepaid four nights here at the end of July. Our mistake! First off, when booking, we were given the option of a king non-smoking or a king smoking room. SInce we both smoke, we opted for the smoking room. When we checked in, we were told by the snippy, glib desk clerk that the hotel was completely non-smoking - and that we could just go stand outside to have a cigarette.

The room itself wasn't bad. However, the hotel does allow pets (great for us allergy sufferers.) and you notice their presence by the noise and the odor.

The complimentary breakfast consisted of stale cereal, and, if you were lucky enough to be there when they filled the cases, perhaps a bagel or donut, unless you wanted to cook your own (disgusting) waffle. The club room were the breakfast was set out is a tiny room given the size of the hotel, and seating in there was difficult. The tables were always dirty.

The desk staff were extremely unpleasant to deal with.

The free computer usage does not do anyone any good, as it was not working. We didn't bring a laptop, so we can't speak to the quality of the wi-fi.

There are surely better values out there, and you'd do well to search a bit longer and find one. This place is in no way indicative of the other lovely Comfort Inns in which we have stayed.

“Awful Hotel- do not stay here”

Comfort Inn O'Hare

Jun 21, 2007

Hotel promised 24 hour shuttle. Online still says 24 hour shuttle. Shuttle van still says 24 hours on side. However, they refused us shuttle till 4 am. After much arguing with front desk he had taxi pick us up and take us to hotel on hotel voucher. Would not tell me how to get the shuttle back to hotel after we got back. Could not get ahold of hotel. Ended up costing us $48 in cab fare to get back to hotel which should have had FREE shuttle. Bathroom ceiling leaked from above and bullet hole in glass of window.

I stayed on october, only one night, because the price, for only one night, it's not worth to pay more, as the matter of fact from 9:00 pm to 5:00 am, I had to catch an early flight, at the begining everything seems right, a clean lobby, the front desk attendant was polite, he gave me a room in the second story almost at the end, it was a long walk, but it's o.k. the price $ 112.00 per night, hoping that it's going to be a decent room, but then in the corridor, I feel a humidity smell, as soon as go inside the room, was clean but the smell was worst, but anyway, I though I'm going to get accustomed, the room was o.k. I had to work at least a couple of hours in my laptop, doing some memos, but the wireless didn't work, I try to access several times, but was impossible, sometimes I get access for couple of minutes, but that's it.
I went to the frondesk to check what's going on, and another person told me that because it's so far from the system, the only option is to come to the lobby and work there, I turn my head and I saw 2 other clients using their laptops in their knees in a couch, I told that I don't like the idea because I have a lot of papers to work on, then I ask if it's possible to change my room, then an old angry lady told me that that's impossible because they're full, I asked her if it's possible to check again, because for me the hotel is not full, in the parking lot, there's no more than 10 cars and it was 10:30 pm. alittle late, so, I ask to check again, she didn't check she begin to getting mad and told me that it's impossible, for her reaction, I told her that I prefer to change of hotel, she told me that is o.k. but the credit card was already charged, and there's no refunds.
I began to get angry and reaction about that, the manager show up and I explain my situation, he told me that I can use an office and I can use the internet cable there, at the end I did that, the office was really dirty, but anyway, I finished late, go to sleep, the pillows and sheets, smell pretty awful, for sure they didn't wash it for a week or more, and in the morning in my felt my skin ichi, in 3 or 4 different spots, for sure some bugs bit me.
I will never return to this hotel, I travel to Chicago twice a month, for the last 8 months, and I never been before in this one, I usually go to Holiday Inn, Hampton Inn, not really expensive hotels, and believe me, never like this hotel, worst experience in the hotel.

having had a flight cancelled on a rotten night at o'hare we went seeking accomodation for the night. all the "chain" hotels at the airport were booked up but a kind bell captain at the hilton put us in contact with the des plaines inn and we booked up for the night at $99 for the room. without my usual tripadvisor check to fall back on it was with trepidation that we arrived at the hotel but was pleasantly surprised, front desk were extremely friendly and accomodating, had us in a room in 10 mins. room was large with a huge bed. heating worked a treat as it was very cold,shower/bathroom were clean with clean towels and toiletries. was impressed for the price we paid. they do a free continental breakfast in the morning but we went to the diner called tiffanys across the parking lot, lovely food and service. the hotel also has a pc in the lobby that has broadband and was free for guests,a nice touch!would recommend this hotel if you find yourself on an overnighter at o'hare and don't want to pay big bucks to a chain hotel for one night.
