“Three cheers for Susan Keane”

We stay there every year in May. A group of us that ranges from 10-20 rooms are in Decatur for a torunament.

The staff and especially Susan Keane have been so accomodating we will never stay any where else when we are there. I have been going to that tournament for 25 years.

Only thing missing was a fire pit in the pavilion to keep warm last Friday night.

Thanks Susan!

“Trying Harder - But Beware!”

Chicago Suburbs

Coming here for the past 8 years in early March, I have, sadly, seen the decline of this property. It had much promise years ago. Last year, my room reeked of sewage. Maintenance said the toilet line had a leak in it. This year, the room has a foul sewage odor, but not as bad as the last time. The bathroom counter has an early '80's like green color along with dirty white and green checkered tiling. My bed's headboard is broken. The box spring won't align with the wall. The heater is loud, like a jet engine. Over-the-door light fixture is broken. Light bulbs were out and remote didn't work and room was freezing cold when I first check in to the room. Each of my three days here saw the pool become dirtier, with a thick film of greasy grime.

Management doesn't accommodate for what's reserved, like cots.

They offer a buffet, but the lettuce is white, the fried chicken and meatloaf is not good tasting. Their banquet food is even worse.

I am forced to stay here due to an annual conference. I would not ever stay here after what I've experienced here. I feel bad for anyone choosing to stay here. Unless one receives a tremendous discount or price, I don't understand why this place would be chosen.

I imagine the conference center is a help to the local economy. It is in desperate need of renovation. Their room charges and food are way to expensive for the quality.

I have noticed many of the workers become nicer and more responsive, but the facility is really worn out.

“Again 110% satisfied”

Decatur Conference Center and Hotel

Mar 7, 2008

Our organization, " The Illinois Taxidermist Association" once again recently held our annual taxidermy show and convention at this location and once again we were very satisfied with the accomodations and the friendly staff that works there. Our members comment on how friendly the staff is and the great banquet that this hotel put on for us. The food was unbelievably good and was one of the finest spreads that I have ever seen. My thanks to the chef - the food was outstanding. I have never worked with a place that is so willing to make our convention a huge success and so friendly to work with. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone. Thanks, Shannon, Susan, Chris for all your hard work for our organization, we really appreciate it. Look forward to seeing you all next year!

This hotel was bought by the city recently and they are operating it as best they can while shopping for a good, experienced hotel owner. They did that to keep from losing this facility and I commend them for it. I've stayed there twice and will be back again on October 9. The rooms have been clean and the food has been good. Those seeking perfection should perhaps search out the Garden of Eden. This is just a hotel with real people doing the best job possible. Get a grip.

“Loved the Golf Package”

Decatur Conference Center and Hotel

O'Fallon, MO
Oct 9, 2007

Decatur Conference Center and Hotel, Decatur, IL
Written by Trip Advisor Member RRRock O'Fallon, MO USA

I contacted the hotel regarding the Golf Package offered by the hotel and The Decatur Parks Department. The Decatur Parks Department operates four golf courses in the city. I booked a weekend package for 16 golfers. We have a golf outing in the Spring and Fall every year. I received nothing less than outstanding service when I inquired and booked our trip. I asked about area restaurants and was told that the hotel has two restaurants. One is a Sports Bar and Grill and the other is The Greenhouse Restaurant. I went ahead and made reservations for 16 people for Saturday night at 6:00PM.

We played two different courses, Hickory Point where LPGA Futures tournaments have been played and Red Tail Run a new Raymond Floyd designed course that opened in 2006. Both courses are very good. I really enjoyed Red Tail Run. Raymond Floyd has a sign on the back nine which reads, Raymond's turn, If you can play 4 holes in one over, congratulate yourself. We didn't make it. Four really great holes.

We returned to the hotel and got ready for dinner. Everything was set up when we arrived. Everyone ordered off a full menu. Almost everyone got something different. Everyone really enjoyed their meal. I have to mention that three of the guys in our group are in the restaurant business. All of them agreed that the food was great, they were a little surprised because sometimes things don't quite measure up when your on the road. The group order everything from steak, spagetti and meatballs to beef stew and everyone was very pleased with their meal.

After dinner we had a little meeting to discuss our trip and golf in a room provided by the hotel. We have all agreed that this is one of the best trips we have taken. I've been doing this for at least ten years and it started long before I joined the group.

My only regret is that when all the other guys hear about this trip they'll all want to go next Spring, I imagine our size will double.

The whole experience was fantastic. Congratulations to all.
