Hotel is not the right word for this establishment. Dump is more appropriate.
We were looking for low-cost lodging after a longer more expensive trip and decided we could deal with a few inconveniences for a discounted rate. We called several days ahead of time to confirm our reservation and "Yes, we will have a non-smoking queen for you on Friday." When we checked in, they not only didn't have a queen room, but everything was filthy. Our room smelled like urine and mildew; a ceiling tile in the bathroom had been pushed up and there were no towels. We asked for another room, and were told "a double-double is the best we can do--it's better than any queen we have now." It was worse--the bathroom was moldier, the room smelled worse.
While we were waiting in the lobby, we heard two separate phone calls about the service or rooms and the offer "Call Expedia and cancel your reservation then, but it will be a $25 cancellation fee." Having reserved through Expedia ourselves, we did just that, because there was nothing salvageable at this location. With several conferences the same weekend that we were in town, and we were fortunate enough to find alternate lodging.
The seasonal pool is not up to code and not filled, there were parking lot level rooms with torn curtains and stacks of mattresses in front of the windows.
This motel is in business to generate revenue from Expedia and other travel site cancellations!
