“Very comfortable room”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

This hotel is situated in a group of several other chain hotels off the interstate, in a lonely little area a few miles east of the town of Danville. As a result, it seemed more uninviting than it actually was. And it is next to a hotel that has scaffolding all around it. The lobby smells a bit like chlorine from the pool that is right behind the lobby (it looked nice though and also had a separate whirlpool). The elevator groans as though it has had a hard day. Soooo, first appearances were that this would be barely tolerable. But the room itself was very clean and comfortable (if a bit sparsely decorated) and the beds were top notch, with extra feather pillows that were cushy and wonderful. That was an online option that I selected, so I was delighted to see that someone actually pays attention to that. The staff were all friendly and helpful, and we found a great little joint a few miles down the nearby country road called the Moon Glo, where we ate the best hamburger of all time. I am not that familiar with Fairfield, but I was surprised there is no portico to park under to get your bags inside. Overall, though, a very nice place for a great price. Breakfast was generous, with hard-boiled eggs, waffles, biscuits and gravy, and the usual other offerings. Excellent coffee.

Room Tip: Get away from the pool.

I was a little disappointed but only because I had really high expectations from my stay at the Fairfield Inn and Suites in Virginia. The staff were friendly and it was one of the fastest check ins I've ever experienced. It was nice that they gave me bottled water and a snack when I checked in also. The place is clean and nicely decorated.
The only reason I might not stay here again would be the location. There isn't much at that exit. The next exit west is closer to all the businesses and food but on the other hand it was quiet. I was traveling by myself and felt safe. Not so sure I would have felt as secure at one of the town places.
I didn't use the pool or have breakfast there so I can't vouch for either.

The rooms were clean and well appointed, the staff was exceptional, like ones that you might find in a much more expensive hotel...though perhaps we were just really lucky? Rooms were nicely appointed, the king room had a decent chair with footstool, small fridge, and lots of good space, as we were traveling with a portable crib for a baby. Didnt use the pool, but it looked sufficient. Breakfast was good, with eggs and sausage, and oatmeal as well as the usual cold options. Checked in here with no reservation, had no issues. Join marriott loyalty program for points here...it also got us a small goodie bag with chips and salsa and a bottle of water...

This is our second stay here. Every thing met out expectations rooms. Bath room could be bigger and there is no frig or mirco wave in room. We did not eat the breakfast it seemed just ok but we wanted something more.

We were staying on points, so perhaps that's why we ended up in the oddly small room. It featured a smaller than normal bed, and only or nightstand which was wedged in between the bed and the actually comfy chair. This is a problem if you need to reach the electrical outlet behind the nightstand, which has to be maneuvered out from the chair, or, if you want to use a drawer because the chair blocks it from being opened more than an inch or two. Avoid room 308.

Then there was the breakfast - an under provisioned buffet overmatched by the crowd. The only fruit option was apples. There was a microwave for breakfast sandwiches but no breakfast sandwiches. Peanut butter ran out and wasn't replenished while we were eating. A fellow diner complained that the hot water tasted like coffee, as if the hot water urn have been used to make coffee and not well rinsed. But there were chocolate chips for the waffles, the only positive in an otherwise dispiriting breakfast.

If neither of these issues bother you, there's no reason not to stay here. It's clean and well kept, but also pretty much in the middle of nowhere - you're actually closer to Indiana than you are to Danville.

Thank you for your feedback and kind words about our hotel. I apologize you had a negative experience during your recent stay. We appreciate your comments about our continental breakfast; we will continue ongoing training with our staff to make sure our breakfast food is continually replenished. We do appreciate your comments letting us know you liked the chocolate chips. Our main concern is ensuring we maintain the highest standards of quality and cleanliness that our guests have come to expect; my sincere apologies about the size of the room you stayed in, unfortunately this room is by the elevator so it is smaller than all the other rooms. I can assure you that you were not in this room due to staying on points. We truly appreciate our rewards members, we are grateful you chose to stay with us!! Thank you for taking the time to offer your feedback. We hope that with our continued efforts to improve, you will keep the Danville Fairfield Inn in mind next time you stay in the area.

Sincerely,
Jenny Voorhees, GM

This hotel fit the bill for location, cost and comfort. We were going to Purdue for the Homecoming Football game and needed a good place to stay. The rooms were clean and comfortable. We didn't use the pool but it looked very nice. The breakfast in the morning was well stocked and amble. We will stay here again when we are passing that way and would recommend it to you.

This was a very pleasant place to stay on the road. The hotel is fairly new, so everything is fresh. It was also very clean, with comfortable beds. The breakfast was well above average, with multiple hot and cold choices.

The only thing which might bother some people is that trains go through. I like trains, so it was pleasant to hear the sound and go right back to sleep. If it's going to bother you, I recommend asking for a room on the side of the hotel away from the interstate, as that was the direction that the train sounds came from. This would apply at any of the Danville hotels at this exit, as they are all clustered in this area.
