“Avoid Extended Stay Suites in Collinsville, IL!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2006

We go to a yearly convention and have stayed at a nearby hotel that is a block further from the convention center. We thought this year that it would be nice to stay a little closer, so we decided to spend $3 less per night and were greatly disappointed.

We had stayed at this hotel a few years ago and it was fine, but this year it was awful.

We had requested a non-smoking room, but got a smoking room. There were holes in the furniture and burn marks on horizontal surfaces from cigarettes. The room didn't smell too bad, but there were also burn holes in the curtains and sheets. There was no hair dryer in the bathroom, just molly-holes in the walls.

Breakfast consisted of bagels, toast, cream cheese, coffee, milk, 2 boxes of cereal. All Aldi brand, which isn't a problem in and of itself... but if they are shopping @ Aldi they can afford a better variety!!! Aldi has lots of great stuff.

There is also no pool.

The fold-out sofa bed had a scary 2 foot diameter red stain that looked like blood and the kids found a bullet on the floor

The door to the outside did not lock.

The hallways reeked of smoke.

The Ice Machine on our floor did not work.

There was not enough parking in lot.

There was Duct tape holding roof tiles on above outside door.

The staff was great, but the facility was lousy.

Next year we go back to the better hotel that is only $3 more per night.

I attend a convention in Collinsville every year for the last several years and had reservations to stay here 3 years ago. The hotel changes its name every year. When you walk in the lobby and look up you see spider webs with dead silverfish and roaches. There were dead bugs in the elevator too! The first room we looked at had roaches in the bathroom and silverfishes (looks like giant centipede) in the cabinets. We were given another room and there were were more bugs in this room too. I bumped into a maid on the way back to the front desk. She said the silverfish were all over the hotel and had been wondering what they were. We were given a third room and when I pull back the sheets to check the bed a four inch long silverfish scurried away. There was crusty stuff on the bedspread. The curtains, carpet, lampshades were dirty & stained in all three rooms.
We went back to the front desk and the clerk said they did not have bugs. I then pointed out the dead ones in the web above his head. We did not stay at this hotel.
