What a disappointment. The ONLY thing this place has going for it is location. Don't look for anything else "special" about this hotel. A real disappointment.

Look at the negatives in the other reviews. And consider them strongly. Very strongly. The people who wrote the negatives about this place in other reviews know EXACTLY what they are talking about.

We would not consider returning to this place, even if the rate was $28/night. That's how disappointing it is. There are too many other places in the neighborhood that offer the benefits of a great location, but offer accomodations and service that are just so far superior to this one.

Oh, and by the way...the beds are extremely uncomfortable. The fold out couch is a definite joke, as others have said. But the beds themselves? Awful.

So we've been in and out of hotel rooms for the past month after being 'in between' apartments on my part and this is the best one thus far (1. hilton, 2. doubletree LAST 3. allegro).

The room is absolutely huge. 2 double doors that lead to a giant bedroom with another tv, a living room with a flat panel, big bathroom, wet bar...not to mention the ridiculously cool indoor pool on the roof...Do you know how rare that is? Doubletree advertised a roof...that was closed for the winter.

And the couch folds out into a bigger bed. And theres a microwave.

And its right next to the Hancock building giving us a gorgeous view (the fact that they put us on the top floor didn't hurt either).

We were planning on going out and enjoying the city but got such a kick out of our room that we went to Jewel like 2 teenagers and bought $30 worth of frozen buffalo wings to eat/watch tv with all night while snuggling on our folding couch.

I can't believe this was the cheapest hotel we got because this was BY FAR the best I've ever stayed in. I wish I can get the same rate again but its just not showing up. :(

When visiting Chicago, we love to stay on or near the Magnificent Mile for shopping, restaurants etc, This hotel is lovely, newly renovated. The rooms are clean, spacious suites with internet service. We were well cared for by staff and enjoyed the little restaurant for a quick snack or drink. Walking distance to most things or a cab ride or bus ride to all else.

This hotel was booked when we arrived and they told me that our room was a handicapped room. I'm not sure why they gave us that, but we went up to it and didn't like it very much, especially the shower. So, later that afternoon we asked to switch, and they did switch us but it was to a room with two queen beds instead of one king. The room was much nicer so I'm definitely glad they could switch us.

The service was not so great the whole time. We tried to go to the concierge desk two separate times and both times no one was there. We waited 10 minutes one time and eventually the bellhop helped us a little bit. This was sorely disappointing.

However, the hotel was in a very good location two blocks from Michigan Avenue and, overall, the hotel was nice.

The location was very good, close to shopping, restaurants, and sight-seeing, which was convenient. We were able to walk or take short cab rides, wherever we wanted to go. The hotel was quiet, even though fully booked, and the room was clean enough, but when we arrived, it reeked of cigarette smoke, though it was supposedly a a non-smoking room. Fortunately the windows open, and we were able to air it out.

Despite being a "suite" it was a tight fit for our family of 5. The beds in the bedroom were comfortable, though small for 2 people (full not queen), but the pull out couch was truly atrocious--broken springs and extremely thin/worn mattress. If you can make due without it you'll be much better off. The bathroom was small but updated, however, the closet was miniscule, and had only 5 hangers, so we each got to hang up just one thing. The one dresser matched the closet in size, so we each had one tiny drawer. Needless to say, storage was a big problem. Small microwave and refrigerator in the living area, both of which functioned without problems. We didn't try the restaurant, but the kids enjoyed the pool. Again, nothing fancy. The staff seemed very friendly and helpful, and the price was reasonable, but honestly I'd be willing to pay more next time for a little more space and comfort. Oh, and it seems that this hotel is where Lufthansa flight crews stay on their layovers so the lobby was constantly full of their uniformed personnel every time we passed through the lobby--no big deal but made getting elevators a problem a few times.
