Stayed on a Groupon deal. Great location for theaters and shopping. Summer would be great as it is only a block from millennium park. Courteous staff, clean well appointed room. Good breakfast. Quick valet parking. What a little treasure in the middle of the city. We'll be back!

Room Tip: West rooms are quiet. The east rooms may be noisier as the "L" goes down the street in fron...

We had a Groupon for the hotel and were hoping that the place would be very acceptable. We stayed two nights and all was excellent. The attendants at the front doors were very nice, Enrique being one of them. We were in and out many times over the weekend and whomever was at the front door was always very polite and helpful.

Our reception at the front desk was also very nice, greeted and taken care of in a responsible manner. A large spacious suite with all we needed was ours. The room was very clean and well decorated, flat screen TV, etc. We ran into the maid one time and she was very gracious and helpful.

While eating breakfast both mornings we had the occasion to be helped by the Food and Beverage manager, Mr. Baumann. Too bad more restaurants didn't have more people like him helping the customers. The waiters and busboys were all very polite and helpful, always with smiles on their faces. That is not always seen while eating in restaurants.

We will be going back to the Silversmith for further stays in downtown Chicago, well done Silversmith!!!!!

Room Tip: The "L" didn't bother us much at all, not a problem.

But, to be fair, i've never stayed anywhere else on my personal, business or family trips to Chicago (except a couple nights spent at O'Hare properties over the years, i don't count those!). I have several friends who share my opinion after experiencing a stay at The Silversmith, now they only book their Chicago stays there too!

First, the staff. I've always had nothing but the best experiences with each and every employee i've come in contact with over the years. My observation is that they are genuinely friendly, warm and kind, which are semi-rare traits (to this degree) in today's service industry.

Second, the accomodations. The Silversmith boasts perhaps the most comfortable bed i've slept in during my years of travel. I must admit that i vastly prefer the character and quirkiness of this boutique hotel to more luxorious 4.5 -5 star accomdations i've experienced. the 12 foot ceilings create a sense of spaciousness that similarly sq foot rooms don't provide. (Disclosure: I do NOT mind the sound of the El whatsoever, even on the lower floors in rooms facing Wabash. The super thick windows drown out the El's roar. That said, more finicky guests might want to request a room on a higher floor or toward the back of the building)

The Silversmith is the most conveniently located hotel in the city, in my book. The best pizza in the USA is just across the street. The "El" stop is on the corner, and the Red Line is around the corner if you're headed to Wrigley or Cellular One during your stay, or a cab can very easily be procurred at the Valet station. Miller's Pub is one block south and The Book of Mormon is playing around the corner.

Do yourself a favor a book this hotel for your next downtown Chicago stay, you will thank me later for it.

Room Tip: Ask for higher floors, if available.

Highly recommend this hotel on Wabash. Very friendly, helpful staff. Easy location to walk to anything. Large, spacious, clean, comfortable suites with large bathroom and quality linens. Room had flat screen TV in bedroom area, sittng area with TV separated by French doors. Quiet. Very clean. Good breakfast in the morning downstairs in Ada's. Wonderful experience here. Workout room and warm and inviting fireplace in the very large lobby with fresh, lemon-infused ice water always on hand.

Overall this is a nice hotel in the heart of downtown that I will recommend to friends and business associates. We did have a couple of negative incidents including being shown to an occupied room and after waiting 10 minutes, having no valet present when we drove back to hotel around midnight. But Enrique, the day valet was very pleasant, hard working and even helped me with the front desk when I forgot my breakfast voucher. He truly had more customer service skills than the night desk manager who felt it was my responsibility to come down to the front desk at 12:30am with my car keys so they could valet it on their time. No apology, no thank you, nothing except "you're all set". However, the female and male day desk mangers were more than helpful and cordial when I explained the two incidents I experienced and they then comped my $52 parking and said I could receive a discount on my next stay! That is customer service when you genuinely try to right a wrong and give value back! And because of it, I will be back! The hotel itself was very nice, reasonably priced, good breakfast, good location, and nice flat screen in room, THANK YOU Enrique and day managers at the Siversmith. See you next time!
