“Convenient, Upscale Marriott Property”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 days ago NEW

Stayed at this property for 1 night (4/19/15) while traveling for business. Many previous reviews discussed renovations and lack of lobby. Renovations are complete, lobby is finished (and very nice!) and includes a number of seating areas, and bar/lounge that serves food and drinks. The concierge lounge is also located off the lobby and offers a number of flat screen TVs and seating areas. Much larger and nicer than typical concierge lounge at Marriott brand hotels.

Room on 14th floor was spacious, clean, and offered a view of the river. (You could also see the parking garage and other buildings as other reviewers mentioned, but given the location I wasn't expecting a phenomenal view.) Bathroom was a bit on the small side, but perfectly fine for me as a solo traveler. Liked the upgraded Gilchriste and Soames bath products. Room offered a large desk with plenty of plugs, and also a large sitting area with comfortable arm chair and coffee table.

Staff was friendly, especially Murphy at the door who greeted guests, rushed out in the rain to cover incoming guests with his umbrella, and introduced himself to everyone by name. He should be recognized for his excellent service.

Great location convenient to restaurants, shopping and very walkable in River North. Overall, would recommend as a good option in River North if the price is right!

Hotel Chicago is an excellent hotel providing large rooms and in a perfect location. The staff are excellent and very friendly, making the stay a joy. Many restaurants within walking distance and the House of Blues is across from the front entrance of the hotel. An excellent stay while in Chicago.

The hotel was under renovation when I stayed in March. I know most rooms are on the smaller side in a big city, so I was fine with the size of the room. When I checked in the young man was so nice and I did come down soon afterwards and said the room wasn't getting warm enough It was probably my fault for not working it right, but he got right on this and had it warm with the utmost respect to me. I give the management credit for knowing how to hire and then train warm and kind staff. That can make such a big difference.

Very good value; rate was very good for location and condition of the hotel. I was very surprised by the elegance and comfort of the room, given the room rate I paid. I found the location very convenient for me, close to the elevated trains I used to get to and from the airports (I arrived at Midway and departed from O'Hare).

The entire 5 day visit was comfortable and accommodating. From meeting Murphy at the front door to the plush rooms to the more than adequate (and updated) work out room, the entire experience was amazing. All staff were friendly and courteous, answering questions, providing assistance and just overall pleasant. Definitely would stay again! Hopefully with family next time.

Beware of very high parking charges at the hotel. Either park in a public car park about 100 metres away for about 1/2 the price or if you do park at the hotel watch out for being charged twice. You don't find out until you check your credit card bill

This is my first time staying at this hotel and I am very impressed. The room is spacious and bed comfortable. The rooms are quiet; can't hear your neighbor next door or hallway noise. Elevators are quick. The hotel lobby and bar area are tasteful. The staff very courteous and helpful
