We had a very nice stay at the Sax, no surprises or disappointments. In fact the biggest surprise was the phenomenal staff, not pretentious just eager to help. Rooms, elevators and hallways are all 70's style and will put off the stuffy (cool) crowd but we loved it. I will take great staff, clean and spacious rooms and great location over earth-tone new stuff any day.

My husband & I was looking for a nice hotel to stay after a romantic dinner celebrating our 16th anniversary, so we chose The Hotel Sax.
We loved our room, the bed was comfy,our room was extremely clean(very important). We received complimentary drinks at the Crimson Lounge which was really nice. Overall my stay was excellent, mini bar/parking was a bit pricey, but to be expected considering the area. I highly recommend & will be staying again.

My wife and I spent 4 nights last week in Chicago at Hotel Sax! We found the Consierge, Catherine to be super-helpful and really MADE our fun visit to Chicago even better! She was super accessible and very insightful of ALL that was happening in town re: tours, theatre, restaurants, etc;

Also, Richard the doorman and the other staff were always very helpful as well with geting cabs and loading cars and just being very helpful - first class service at medium price accomodations.....

Hotel Sax is an outstanding location in Marina City with all of River North and the Upper Loop right there - an easy walk or short cab ride away to anything...check it out - rooms are really nice too, quiet and roomy! A really great deal - we will go back!

Because of a coupon we stumbled onto Hotel Sax for a night's stay at the end of January. It was both charming and welcoming. From the valet who greeted us as we drove up to the desk clerks and the concierge the staff was gracious and accommodating. Everyone was most helpful and cordial. For our needs (a one night stay) the room was perfect. Everything was in place and in good condition. The room felt spacious with high ceilings and lots of light from all the windows. Our sleep that night was quiet and cozy.
Why 4 and not 5? The room itself was not all that large. For a longer stay it might have felt a bit cramped if one had to spend more time in the room. Also, with the large windows and a brisk wind the room did feel a little drafty (helped when the heavy curtains were pulled).
Would I recommend it or stay there again? Definitely. It is in a great location with a wonderful decor. Excellent service as well.
