“Stuck in Chicago for Hurricane Sandy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2012

When Roland Reagan Airport was closed, I found myself stuck in Chicago and managed to get a room at the Hyatt. Excellent staff - very friendly and professional. Rooms were clean and quiet. I do have two concerns; for the cost of a room wi-fi should be included and the televisions should be at least from this century. Overall a great hotel, but not great value.

“In the heart of Chicago”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2012

We stayed at the Hyatt Chicago magnificent mile and thought it was great. The staff were friendly and welcoming right from the start. When we checked in we ask for a room with a city view and the desk clerk replied, "I will give you a wonderful room at no extra charge.". We have stayed in many fine hotels in Chicago but this was certainly the largest and nicest. The room was at the end of the hallway with a wall of windows overlooking the city (room 529). It had a separate seating area, king size bed with very nice linens, desk, minifridge, and huge bathroom. Complimentary bottled water and a coffee maker with tea and coffee were also provided. The concierges were beyond helpful with city maps and great restaurant tips. We ate at the Capital Grill which was in the same building as the Hyatt and Gyu Kaku which was a Japanese barbecue about one block west. Both
restaurants were excellent suggestions and Gyu Kaku was especially interesting with very
reasonable prices and great ethnic food. The best feature of the Hyattt is that it truly was in the
heart of Chicago, being one half block off Michigan between Erie and Ohio. I walked from the hotel daily to different shops on the magnificent mile and museums. I even walked over to the French Market on N. Clinton to meet my daughter for lunch, so the location here for the Hyatt was so convenient.
After a long day of walking, visiting and shopping I came back to use the exercise and pool facility. The pool room also has a sauna and steam room and both the pool and exercise room were more than adequate. This hotel was definitely the best value out of a long list of magnificent mile area hotels we have stayed at previously.

Room Tip: Ask the check in clerk for the nicest room in your price range. They were very gracious about upgra...

“Lots of positives, but tube TV still. Really?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

I stayed here 3 nights for a tradeshow event and I was pleasantly surprised; mostly good. The check-in was a breeze, even for an early (morning) check-in. The hotel is undergoing renovations and this was made clear by check-in agent; all guests would get 1000 Hyatt points (I never heard any renovation noise). As just a base Gold Passport member, I was assigned a nice sized corner room. There was tons of room in the bedroom area (a sofa off to the side) and the bathroom was overly large with tons of extra counter space. I was impressed. 2 waters in my room, were replaced each day.
The stay was very good, bed was firm. In addition, for being in a congested area of the city, the street noise was minimal. The hotel bar is very small and hopefully the renovation improves this. In addition, there are still tube TV's in the room. Really? Hello, the 90's are calling? But, I do see a lot of potential here, since I believe this was recently taken over by Hyatt. After the full renovation is completed, I see good things here.
Final point: I think the staff is definitely above average and willing to help out with anything.

“Chicago Vacation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

This hotel was in a perfect location for seeing all the sights of Chicago. Close to Wrigley, close to Soldier Field (da Bears won too!!) and one block away from Michigan Ave. Can't beat it.

Hotel room TV is still not a flat screen TV, but the room itself is nice and spacious enough. All the concierges seemed really helpful in helping you decide between all the different type of sights/restaurants you can see.

“Chicago Mag Mile”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

My experience at the Hyatt was pretty average. The rooms are big enough but were dark and felt very old and dated. The bathroom was a little nicer than the bedroom but on the whole I felt that the rooms didn't really match the more upscale feel of the lobby or what I expect from Hyatt in general. Not sure if they are still doing renovations or not, but they are definitely needed in the bedrooms!

Thank you for your feedback regarding your recent stay. In fact, we are still on schedule for a full reinvention of our hotel this coming winter until the middle of 2013. I hope that we can welcome you back when it is complete and exceed your expectations.
