“Expect a Minimalist Expereince.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2014

On the upside, this hotel is located in the Lincoln Park area of Chicago, regarded as a very safe neighborhood.
Price is its primary attraction. The $30.00 per night parking charge is reasonable by Chicago standards and the included continental breakfast is above average.
HOWEVER, the hotel is ancient and likely to be over 100 years old. Previous renovations cannot
conceal its age. The rooms are small. The tiny crawling bugs found in the bathroom at night
did little to intice me back to this hotel. Once was enough. Adios to the Inn at Lincoln Park !!!

Room Tip: If you have to stay here, pick a room facing the street. They are larger (still small) but you will...

The hotel is in a great spot, close to the action in Lincoln Park but I'm hard pressed to call it hotel. As Brent P stated it is more of a hostel than a hotel. It was clean and well kept. The rooms and beds were tiny. Everything is an add-on the a/c is a window unit, the heat is a free standing unit in the room. You have to go to the front desk for a hair-dryer. I didn't eat breakfast but it was perfect for carb lovers - donuts, cereal, toast, etc.

Don't make the mistake I made, which was thinking I booked the Lincoln Park hotel :-)

Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate it very much when the guests tell us about their experiences. There is a difference between the Inn at Lincoln Park and the Hotel Lincoln. For the traveler that is looking for an economy hotel that provides clean rooms and exceptional service at a economy price, we are the choice, Thank you again for your feedback. On entry, the lobby was quite tired: old carpet, paint chipping, etc. Hallways and room had a old, dusty odor, but the window did open, so we could get fresh air. Everything in the bedroom was old (not quite historic), with rusty fixtures in the bathtub. We were on the fourth floor, so it took a long time on our first morning to get steady hot water, and then later that afternoon - no hot water at all. There is no excuse for a lack of hot water at a hotel in the Second City.

The price should have given me a clue. I read the reviews here before booking and lent more credence to those that saw it as 'quaint', but in reality it's just bad. I need to be renovated top to bottom.

Staff were nice enough, and maybe in the 'home country' this hotel might have been acceptable, but not here, not in Chicago, not in any major US city.

Would have been much better to spend the extra $200 and stay at the Willows one block away.

We apologize about the issues you had while staying at our hotel. We are not sure why you had issues with the hot water. We had not received any complaints so it may have been isolated to your room only. We are in the process of finalizing our new hotel that will be built on the current site to give our guests an updated space with many more amenities. We are not sure what the meaning of "home country" is but we are an american owned and operated hotel. We are an economy hotel that can offer clean, quiet rooms at a discounted rate for the traveler coming to the Chicago area. Thank you again for your comments. Paul Schoonover - General Manager

Rather nice style of a place. Like a European older style. Great friendly and informative front desk staff. Nice location.

Stayed for 5 nights in Spring when still cold at night, radiators maybe worked in only the bathroom at night, radiator worked in bedroom only in the morning. Complained 2 days, gave up, it warmed up over the next day, then they left us a space heater. Too late.

The room had a locked door to another hotel room and we could hear them like in a house. Very clear, everything. Crazy they never closed off that doorway or insulated it for sound. Lucky the neighbors had about the same schedule as us.

I Googled the place and found it is being renovated totally late Summer 2014. Seems our struggles with heat was because they have some poor circulation in the old radiator system and don't want to fix it. DO NOT go there when it is cold.

Expected much more when paying so much per night.

Room Tip: Make sure your room has no adjoining room with a simple locked door separating them.

We apologize about the issues you had while staying at the Inn at Lincoln Park. We have had an issue with some of the radiators this year since the hotel is running on a boiler system original to the hotel. We will be inspecting the room that you stayed in to insulate the space in between the connecting doors. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Paul Schoonover - General Manager

The staff is friendly and helpfull, but the rooms are a bit smelly and could use a good cleaning - but the place is quite cheap, even including a small breafast with juice, bagels and cerials. Lots of stores and eateries in the area and boystown is just a small walk away

First I will start with the fact that we booked our hotel room for a one night get away through Priceline, I have booked through Priceline on nearly every trip we have taken, so I know we usually get what we get...but we have never been quite as disappointed in a room.

The good: The hotel was clean and it was close to Wrigley Field (which was the reason for our trip to Chicago), they gave us a discounted parking rate because occupancy was low (note this comment in the bad).

The bad: The room they put us in was formerly a vending room...and this is not an exaggeration. It was a 9x9 room with a double bed. It was in the stairwell on the 2nd floor. In the stairwell there was a door on either side of our room that lead to other rooms, so every time people were coming and going the door would bang really loud and wake us up. You could also hear every time someone was getting ice in the vending room that was right below us. The wallpaper in the room was falling off. And we asked for extra pillows, but were told they only had one extra (yet as noted earlier we were told occupancy was low...could they not get a pillow from another room??). Also the bed itself had to be 20 years old and I felt like I was going to end up on the floor every time either my husband or I moved.

All in all, it wasn't HORRIBLE...but we just weren't happy here and will probably never return.

Room Tip: Never Stay In Room 218

We apologize that your experience was disappointing. Our economy rooms are small, they are 10x10 with walking space around the bed. The rooms are not previous vending rooms although they are small. Since our hotel was built in 1918, the economy rooms are not as spacious as newer hotels may be. When booking on priceline, you may select a room upgrade for an additional cost. We have room options from economy, queen, king and two double beds as well as suites with full kitchens and Jacuzzi tubs. We hope you will try us again with an upgraded room type. I love this place! It is close to everything in Lincoln Park with onsite parking and is priced reasonably. It has a quaint European feel to it. I plan to stay here many more times in the future while visiting the city.
