This hotel is what you would expect from a Westin. Typical 4-star hotel. The service was good, the rooms were comfortable, clean and provided a good work environment. Style of building seemed Japanese, and I think a Japanese chain used to own the building. Staff were polite and helpful.

Didn't eat at the restaurant on site, but the bar was fine. Nothing special.

Would probably return for work but would stay at another location for pleasure.

I have stayed at this hotel 30 times along with many other in downtown Chicago. You cannot beat the location the service. Great restaurants all within walking distance. A little pricey but worth it.

Just returned from a long weekend of shopping and celebrating in Chicago. The Westin proved to be a great home base. Our room was large and comfortable and the bathroom, done in black marble, was also quite large and stylish. The hotel gym is far superior to most and never crowded. The lobby overlooks the bar area which creates a great atmosphere to have a drink/appetizer in. The staff was friendly and the location was ideal for Michigan Ave. or the loop. We would suggest taking the 2 block walk to the Mambo Grill to start an evening with their mojitos then walking 2 more blocks to Fado for a perfectly poured Guinness. Did I mention we did some celebrating ?

We booked a two-night "Romance Package" to shop and play in Chicago. This included a king bed, river view room, coupons for an American breakfast, a bottle of champagne and strawberries, and a 4 p.m. late-checkout. The room was spacious and the view very nice. Bathroom was also luxurious, with the "heavenly" showerhead. (Just be sure it's set to your liking before you step in! It's powerful.) There were a few minor glitches. The champagne and strawberries we requested never arrived the first night, but we decided to go out to dinner anyway, and so had them sent up the next night. In the morning we found only decaf coffee and one paper cup in the room. There was also no bathrobe in the room. The full American breakfast coupons were worth $10 each and you could select only that from the menu (2 eggs, sausage or bacon, toast, etc.) It was fine but we used the coupons only the first morning - went to brunch at the Palmer House on Sunday instead. It was a pleasant stay and we most liked the late check-out - gave us time to squeeze in more shopping (without having to hassle with packing and retrieving our car right away) before heading home. Staff was quite friendly. We usually stay in a corner room at the Swissotel but tried this just for a change. I like the location of the Swisshotel better, but have always found their staff are pretty chilly.
