“Good location and Friendly Staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2014

Good location for pleasure or business. Good business center for the busy business traveler. Close to great restaurants and bars. Ideal location for shopping or a weekend away. The staff is top notch and went out of their way to accommodate.

Room Tip: Try for a high floor to help eliminate street noise.

Green Features: Very eco friendly policies. I participated in the green program while on property.

Bellman where outstanding, check-in a breeze and the 3pm checkout time for Sunday was an awesome surprise. We did forget a camera in the room and called the next day...no luck! Other than that, recommended.

Room Tip: Ask for water view, It cost me an extra $20/night but well worth it. Magnificent indeed!!!

I can not say enough about this hotel. It has everything you want or need. You are in the heart of downtown, you can walk to everything. Getting a cab was no problem. We arrived early and just thought we would store our bags until check in time. The wonderful lady at the desk (wish I could remember her name because she was wonderful) checked us right in, no problem. Treated us like family. We felt like she was waiting for us and only us to arrive. The view was amazing! The bathroom was big enough for us two girls to get ready in. When we asked for extra towels, it took about 2 minutes for a knock on the door. We will never stay at another hotel downtown.

If we received free wi fi I would of given this hotel 5 stars. You need to pay additional charge for wi fi. Rooms are clean staff very helpful amazing location on Michigan avenue. Visit the Cheesecake Factory across the road it's really amazing!

This hotel is perfectly located directly across from the John Hancock Center, a few minutes walk from the Chicago River and near everything you need to be near in Chicago. When you first walk into the hotel it had a great friendly, proffesional yet casual in a way atmosphere as you are welcomed.

For my one night stay I stayed on the 15th floor. Although the views could have been better, the rooms are comfortable, TV is great and Wifi is very good.

I would highly recommend this hotel for any type of stay.

Room Tip: Try get a view facing the John Hancock Center. It is much better than the opposite side. Also if you...

Usually when I pick a hotel chain, it is because I expect to find a certain level of services. I have stayed in Super luxury Westin Hotels (like the Costa NAVARINO) but this one was way below that standard.
Location is fantastic. Entrance, reception, hall perfect. But when you go up the floors, even in the SPG floor, the corridor reminds budget 2 star hotels. The room I had (27 the floor) was extra spacious and extra empty. As if somebody had removed some furniture. The closet and the bathroom are of another century. On the other hand, the bed is extra comfortable (heavenly bed as they promise). The drawers in the main furniture were stuck, but the desk was perfect. The price I paid was ok, but only because I chose to prepay. The staff was, as always, extra polite.

Room Tip: As always, the higher the better.

Green Features: I liked the double bin in the room (ordinary and recycling) but I think they must indicate what goes in recycling.

Hi kYazitzoglou,

Thank you for the helpful insight. We are scheduled to renovate our guest rooms in December 2014, and we appreciate your feedback to verify the need for our renovation. Westin does strive to maintain the same level of service everywhere, and each location offers unique features. We do hope to improve your impression by next year.

Thanks and be well,
Kristin

Stayed here for 4 nights while in Chicago. Checked in early which was very helpful. Room was on 17th floor. Poor view, overlooked the beach but just about able to see the beach. Views 18th floor or above I assume would be better. The website I booked through boast fantastic city views from the rooms. Not true.
The room was big and spacious for usa hotels. Decor a little old fashioned but bright. Big TV, big bed, big bathroom. Very comfy and the service was great.
Bar bit expensive but great bar staff. Free wifi in reception, but not free in the bedrooms. This was bit disappointing. Room rates were ok but overheard lady in the lift telling her room rate was $50 cheaper than mine. It pays to phone hotel,to negotiate rates.
Door staff very accommodating and helpful. Front desk staff not very engaging but we only spoke to them checking in and out.
Hotel spotless. Gym grand. Location amazing, right beside everything which is fantastic. One side of the hotel is Bloomingdales and other side is Macy's. The John Hancock building opposite the
front door.
The mile the hotel sits on has everything bars, restaurants, cafés etc..
Great few days in Chicago but soooooo cold.

Room Tip: 18th floor at back of hotel for good view, front of hotel should be ok.
