The location of this hotel is absolutely perfect for staying on the Mag Mile and within walking distance to a lot of attractions. We stayed the week before Christmas and we were pleasantly suprised. We had a lakeview room on the 21st floor and it was clean, quiet and looked to be recently updated. We would definitely stay at this hotel again.

I stumbled into a deal for a room here for $95 on the Monday after Christmas. That is quite the deal! While not the top of the line in terms of Westins (dull lobby, smallish rooms) you still get the Heavenly Bed and Shower and are right across the street from the John Hancock building on North Michigan Avenue. Its one of the best locations in Chicago.

By the way, they charge something like $55 a day for parking - you can park a block away on Walton for $29 a day.

Bottom line, if you find a weekend or off season rate that even approaches this, jump on it. On a quality to value ratio, this deal was hard to beat.

Room Tip: We had an upper floor "facing" Michigan Avenue, but the John Hancock was pretty much stari...

Enjoy the shopping, restaurants and sites near this well-situated hotel because the rooms and service at this Westin are disappointingly average. Stained comforters, yellow-ish pillows peeking out from their cases, motel-style bathroom and amenities, confused staff (unable to locate a map of the city)... Glad this one was on my husband's platinum points.

We are sorry to hear your most recent stay was disappointing. We appreciate your feedback and are following up with the departments involved. We would love to have you come back and stay with us again in the future so we can show you our true Westin colors.

Thanks for writing,
Best regards

If you get a great rate and are looking for a fantastic location on michigan avenue but expect nothing more, then this is the hotel for you. I stood in line to check in around 4:30pm on a Friday night and finally made it to the front desk 30 mins later. There were huge lines in the lobby and only 3 front desk staff.

If you have any status at this hotel they seem not to care (I'm Platinum) and didn't offer any recognition or increased level of service. For Gold and Patinum members, there is not a lounge offered at this hotel.

Parking is $57 per day which is typical of other hotels right on Michigan avenue in downtown chicago and that cost is listed on their website if you look for it. It's just something to be aware of. There are also plenty of parking garages around the hotel and if you don't mind walking a few blocks you can park for $38 or so if you leave it parked and dont need it to get around.

I feel this hotel completely relies on its location to keep people coming back. If you are looking for a luxury experience you will be disappointed and should choose another hotel. This almost feels like an airport property.

If you want other options check out the Sofitel Water Tower (my favorite), Palomar, and Omni in the same general area.
