“Tremont is awesome!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2012

I would definitely come back to this hotel. Parking is expensive but there is a Self Park down the street from the hotel which you can park overnight for $40, so it wasn't too bad. This hotel is also pretty much close to everything. You walk in to find very nice decorations (especially during the holidays) and I felt exceptionally warm and welcome. But if you read other reviews you would see the hotel is not perfect, they are working to patch it up and the walls aren't perfect but the hotel room we stayed in was clean and the beds were incredibly comfortable. The rooms are small I won't lie about that but if you're not planning on living in the hotel for a year then this hotel is fine for the average person I would say. I guess it depends on the room you get because some of the pictures I've seen, some of the rooms look gross but I stayed with my mom this weekend there and it was a nice quaint room. It has free wifi which is definitely a plus and the staff seemed pretty nice. The elevator was small yes and freaked me out a little (still can hear squeaky and pullies) but I read they are getting it replaced around the first of the year so that will be a nice renovation. Overall it was a nice stay and the bed was my favorite part LOL. Comfy beds win.

We arrived later than expected, valet was not out front, had to leave car in front and keys at desk. As with any trip downtown Chicago, parking was extremely expensive (over $50). The main elevator is tiny and we could hear the ropes and pulleys. The room was cozy for me, too small for my friend. Probably better for a couple than a couple of friends out visiting the city. Comfy bed, nice bathroom, had some wear and tear. Don't really want to know how sink got cracked :) Main elevator "out of order" come morning, service elevator smaller than main one. Would love to go again!

Initial reviews gave me pause, however, after staying there this last weekend, I definitely would return! The staff was wonderful. Yes the single elevator is small and slow, but they are excited that they will be getting a new FAST elevator after the first of the year. Although they may want to consider replacing some of their blankets, their pillows were wonderful. You cannot beat the location! Close to everything, great dinning nearby, continental breakfast was nice, Starbucks right across the street ~ and price is definitely a major plus! I would call the Tremont a boutique hotel with the charm of a B&B and would recommend the Tremont to others.

Ok first off this is more of a boutique hotel so if you are looking for a club lounge and more of the tradional sterile hotel this may not be for you. We loved it! This hotel has character, history and just a great feel. I am a Platinum SPG Member and was treated OUTSTANDING! The people at the hotel from the front desk, to housekeeping were fabulous. I highly recommend this hotel which is about a block from the Magnificent Mile. I have stayed at the Westin on Michigan Ave and now this is my preferred hotel! You can't beat the location. They have a nice cold breakfast buffet which is very nice. The room was super clean and the bed was was HEAVENLY!!! Great shower! As far as the elevators really did not have a problem and if your biggest issue is that the elevator did not not come quick enough for you and that is your complaint go elsewhere. A fabulous hotel Ditkas Steak House is attached. To all at the Tremont Great Stay and we will be back to your great hotel!

To be fair, SPG just bought this place, and I think are in the process of updating it. The place is old, the one elevator is slow and tiny,* and the rooms smell a lot like Ditka's next door if the window is open (which I found delicious). Basically, treat this place as a convenient location to sleep in downtown Chicago. You're not going to hang out at this place, go to one of the awesome bars in Chicago instead. For the price, it's totally worth it.

*Have one of the staff call the service elevator for you if the wait is busy at the regular elevator.

I travel a lot for work and this by far the worst hotel I've stayed at. The service was disorganized and the front desk was often just not staffed. The bed was horribly uncomfortable and the room heater sounded like a jackhammer not to mention that it had a bad smell. I didn't have one good night of sleep. The place is worse than a motel 6 and triple the cost- I'm shocked it is a Starwood property. Thankfully I switched hotels during my stay and had one night of good sleep.

Exceptional location, close to mag mile and subway. Was skeptical after reading reviews, however, pleased to find a clean and spacious (corner room). Hotel is old and well worn, but serves it's purpose if you are not looking to spend all your time in the room. Staff were friendly and helpful. Great perk is that you have access to the Westin's fitness facilities (just around the block).
We booked through hotwire so got a good rate however BEWARE that valet parking is $54/night. Would book again.

Room Tip: Corner suit was spacious with view of mag mile
