“Millennium Knickerbocker - Great Chicago Experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 days ago NEW

Great hotel to serve as a base for enjoying Chicago's Miracle Mile! Got an early check in and had two really nice rooms with the most comfortable hotel beds experienced in years. The lobby bar had a Friday night piano player, followed later by a jazz trio, and large screen TVs for sporting events. Although we caused a minor accident with broken glass in the lobby, Junior Therriauix, the manager on duty, eased the tension with humor and took care of us and the mess, allowing us to remember why staying at a great hotel enables great memories. The 80+ year old conciegre is wealth of knowledge who provided information obout restaurants and travel that allowed us to take advantage of things we otherwise would have missed. Definitely worth a return visit!

Usually I only write reviews for hotels, restaurants and activities that I rate highly, but in this case, I do think the Millennium Knickerbocker is coasting on its reputation. The location, one block off Michigan Ave. is great and the lobby has a cool factor with a small classy bar where patrons can see and be seen, but upstairs things are not superior. The remodeled shower in the king-bed room we had was a puzzle to operate, so much so that there are directions on the shower wall. The shower has two options--a vertical wand and a "rain shower" that comes directly down on one's head. BUT there was no shower cap as part of the toiletries, an oversight on the part of the cleaning staff, I hope, but annoying. The rug in our room certainly could have used a good cleaning and the "gym" was a collection of a few machines with no disposable headsets for guests and no cloths or cleaning agent available to wipe down the machines. For a 4 star hotel, I expect more.

Great location to see and do everything the Windy City has to offer. We stayed here in September and the staff was friendly and treated us as family. The rooms were clean and fresh. The hotel caters to all business, romantic trips, and fans to see sporting events as that's what group we fell in.

This is a great hotel still giving a personal service in a big city. The outside belies the fact that it is borderline boutique, but by the time you get to your room you know you are in something a bit special and a bit different, even if the name didn't give it away. Excellent location, with Lake Michigan and the Hancock tower in walking distance, and the main Michigan Avenue forming a t-junction with the hotels road. Great for exploring on foot and also for shopping.

The Millennium Knickerbocker Hotel is a great destination stay for individuals, couples, business travelers and families. One of the highlights of my stay was to experience a promotion that is being currently run by Millennium Hotels and Resorts and it is called the Ask Alfred family program; it is an add-on amenity to any room package for just $15 per child. The Alfred cinch bag includes an Ask Alfred cuddly Teddy Bear and a wonderful selection of goodies. Millennium Hotels and Resorts also donates $2 from each amenity sold to The Dream Factory, which grants the dreams of critically and chronically ill children. Please click on the link here for detailed information about this outstanding family program, I highly recommend it for families with children visiting Chicago.
When visiting the Millennium Knickerbocker Hotel I also highly recommend that you take a tour of the hotel. Paul Funkhouser is the Concierge and knows everything there is to know about the hotel. He will personally escort you through the history of the hotel from Al Capone’s Speakeasy and Casino (14th floor) through Hugh Hefner’s ownership in the 80’s when the hotel was temporarily named the Playboy Hotel. Paul gives guided tours every Friday at 3:00 pm, reservations are not required and there is no cost for the tour.

My husband and I booked our stay through Expedia after reading the reviews online. The hotel was very classy and well maintained. Everyone was very attentive and courteous. I also had read a review about the rooms being small, that is not the case. Plenty of space & the bathroom was huge. Great location being steps from the magnificent mile. Would definitely stay again!

My partner and I booked our hotel through the international housewares show for this weekend (march 7 &8). We drove to Chicago and by the time we arrived at the Knickerbocker ( and had the valet park our car) we were told that unfortunately the hotel had overbooked themselves and had acquired us a room at the Allerton. Now why didn't they bother to call or try and contact us either through the housewares booking agent or by calling our cell phones, which was all required during making of the reservations? Once we were told of this we explained that we had already had our car being parked, they the offered to waive the valet charge, wasn't that nice of them. Then we were told just to go to the corner and turn left and it was right there. Which it was not. It was about 4 blocks down. By this time we were frustrated and tired from the long drive. I have worked in the hotel industry and know how the system works but you should always try and contact either the persons that made your reservations or contact your arriving guest. No gesture on behalf of the Knickerbocker ( outside of paying our valet, which then the guy wanted a tip) was made. I / we do not find this to be of good hospitality practice or business. If you plan on staying here maybe you should call before you go, like I guess I should have. I will not attempt to stay here again there are other places for me to stay. Thanks for nothing.
