If you're looking for a cosy place to stay, look no further. The knickerbocker is like being back in Chicago in the older days. Vintage decor is wonderful and well kept. Saw the valet brushing off the spider webs outside the hotel with a big feather duster!

Advance warning, if you like a big hotel room, this won't be for you. The rooms are small but big enough to fit 2 people comfortably, no more than that. Lovely big TV at the end of the bed and a fancy computer on the desk that gives you loads of information about Chicago for free!

The only reason this gets 4 stars rather than 5 is because of the shower. They have fitted rainfall showers which are my absolute favourite thing in the world.. When they work properly. There is not nearly enough water pressure so it feels like a light drizzle rather than rainfall. There is a handheld shower head which works better in my opinion!

The hotel doesn't offer any room service but they are happy to let you know the various take out places who will deliver to the hotel, and ring you when it arrives!

All in all, a nice hotel for someone who doesn't mind a small room!

My husband and I spent the weekend in Chicago for my Birthday. We stayed at the Knickerbocker and it was wonderful. The hotel is very nice and clean. Everyone was extremely nice and helpful. The room is small but comfortable. The shower was the highlight I really want one at home. Thank you for a great stay!!!!

This was our first visit to Chicago, and we were not disappointed. The only moan I have is that the receptionist on arrival was not the most cheerful. He tried to put us in a room with 1 queens size bed, when we booked a room with 2 double beds, his answer was you don,t need 2 beds do you! We ordered a room with 2 beds as this was a deal we had paid for. When we eventually got the right room we we're not disappointed , the room was a very good size and of good quality ,given a few knocks and scuffs on the furniture. The location was perfect for us and I would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Wifi is not free it is 14.95 dollars a day. Hotel right near magnificent mile

Efficient check in/out. The rooms and lifts are dated but functionals. The location is brilliant and the staff are happy to help no matter what the weather is. It was pouring rain and the staff were hailing cabs for us in the rain as we had a dinner reservation. For the price, this was a great stay.

My wife and I spent 4 nights here in a standard room. Not again. Seems hotel is better for just one person. Good & convenient location. Very friendly and helpful staff. Clean, comfortable, quiet, safe. Rooms adequately appointed, Lots of electrical outlets.

The not so great: Rooms small; mattress was too soft. Room temperature hard to regulate. No coffee/tea in the lobby till 6:30 am. No gift shop. Small bathroom; not much privacy. Rain shower pressure weak; water temp variable. Scratchy old towels. Restaurant does not serve dinner.

Room Tip: Go for the premium room.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel between 9/15 and 9/19/2014. It is not a chip hotel, by any means, but everything in this hotel points to that. Linens are low quality, bed is terrible, my back hurts every morning, even though I usually do not have back problem. A shower pressure almost non existent, sink fills with dirty water while you brushing your teeth, I could continue this list, but you, probably, see my point by now. It is not a great hotel to enjoy this beautiful city.

Room Tip: Choose room in different hotel

This hotel location is really good. Next to the John Hancock center across from 900 Michigan Ave. Parking is $65 a day. The restaurant wasn't open for dinner. The rooms were nice and clean. The shower pressure was week.

Overall a great value for Hotwire but I wouldn't be as satisfied if I was paying full price.
